The organizers of PGL Major Stockholm 2021 announced that they intend to hold the championship anywhere within the stated timeframe. The tournament organizer also indicated the dates, no later than which a decision will be made on a possible change in the location of the championship.

PGL still hopes the tournament will take place in Stockholm. To do this, local authorities must fulfill two conditions: to remove restrictions on entry for participants and tournament organizers, and also to allow mass events. Decisions on these issues are expected no later than August 23 and September 15, respectively.

  • The playoff stage of the tournament will take place in Stockholm if local authorities make it possible for players, employees and fans to attend the tournament.
  • The tournament operator takes into account the two deadlines.
  • The first one is on August 23, because it is then that the amendment should come into force, allowing everyone to enter the country.
  • The second is on September 15, when restrictions on holding open events should be lifted.
  • If something changes, the championship will be held in another European country on the same dates (November 4-7).
  • Regardless of the venue, ticket sales will begin on 16 September.

The organizers clarified that partial lifting of restrictions on spectators' attendance will also not be enough, since the championship is held in a local format, primarily for local fans.
