PGL Cancels 2026 Summer Event Due to Schedule Conflict with Esports World Cup

PGL has announced the cancellation of its planned August 2026 tournament due to a scheduling conflict with the updated Esports World Cup.

Schedule Conflict with EWC

PGL stated that it will not hold its event, which was set to take place from August 6 to 16, 2026, with a $1,250,000 prize pool, as the dates overlap with the expanded Esports World Cup for CS2, scheduled for August 12–23. The EWC organizers revealed a major expansion — the tournament will feature 32 team slots, a $2 million prize pool, and open LAN qualifiers.

PGL explained that this overlap would make it difficult to assemble a strong lineup of participants, particularly among teams from the top 30 of the global VRS ranking. As a result, the company decided to focus on other events in the season and avoid competing for the same teams and audience attention.
