
The MongolZ defeat HEROIC and advance to the Upper Bracket Semifinals of IEM Chengdu 2025
Team The MongolZ claimed a confident 2:1 victory over HEROIC at IEM Chengdu 2025. Despite losing Overpass (10:13), the Asian roster dominated on Inferno (13:6) and Ancient (13:5), securing a spot in the Upper Bracket Semifinals, where they will face the winner of NAVI vs Astralis.
Overpass (10:13 HEROIC)
On their own map pick, HEROIC showed strong preparation and determination. The first half ended 8:4 with convincing control from their T side. After switching sides, The MongolZ managed to tie the score at 10:10, but HEROIC held their ground and closed the map 13:10.
Inferno (13:6 The MongolZ)
On their pick, despite a solid start from HEROIC, The MongolZ took a slight 7:5 lead in the first half. Once they moved to the CT side, HEROIC completely lost control, managing to win only one round as The MongolZ closed the map 13:6 to even the series.
Ancient (13:5 The MongolZ)
The decider map, Ancient, turned into a one-sided affair. The MongolZ dominated from the start on the T side, displaying confident, aggressive play. In the second half, they maintained full control and prevented HEROIC from mounting any comeback, finishing the map 13:5.

The MVP of the series was 910, the AWPer for The MongolZ. He delivered the highest ADR – 85.8, Swing +2.83%, and a 1.35 rating.
Despite playing without a full roster — after benching one of their most consistent players, senzu, temporarily replaced by controlez — The MongolZ still managed to secure a convincing victory and move forward to the Upper Bracket Semifinals, where they will face the winner of NAVI vs Astralis. HEROIC, meanwhile, drop to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinals. IEM Chengdu 2025 runs from November 3–9 with a total prize pool of $1,000,000, including $300,000 distributed among teams and $700,000 allocated to the tournament organizer.
