The MongolZ secure playoffs, G2 out of Austin Major

The MongolZ have advanced to the playoffs of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, taking down G2 in a decisive 2-0 series in Swiss Round 5. With this victory, the Mongolian roster locks in a playoff berth and eliminates the European side from the tournament.

The series began on Ancient, the pick of The MongolZ, where they delivered a controlled performance. After an even 6–6 half on the T side, they closed out the map with a perfect 7–0 CT side, ending Ancient 13–6 in their favor.

G2 responded on Dust2, their map choice, where the match extended to triple overtime. Despite strong individual rounds and a dramatic 2v5 recovery in round 32 led by HeavyGod and huNter-, G2 failed to convert key opportunities. The MongolZ eventually sealed Dust2 28–25 to take the series.

Standout player of the match was Azbayar 'Senzu' Munkhbold, who posted a 66-47 K-D, 96.6 ADR, and 1.45 rating across two maps. He was particularly impactful in opening duels and held strong control through the late rounds of Dust2.

While HeavyGod led G2 with 65-48 K-D and a 1.32 rating, the rest of the squad struggled to match the consistency of The MongolZ. Both Snax and hades ended with a -19 differential, undercutting G2's ability to close crucial rounds.

With this result, G2 exits the Major, while The MongolZ advance to the playoffs. Their next match will be against FaZe Clan on June 19. The winner will move closer to the championship title at BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
