FaZe Clan beat Astralis at IEM Cologne 2022

FaZe Clan beat the Danes from Astralis with a score of 2:0 (Overpass 16:13; Inferno 16:11).

FaZe Clan vs. Astralis

  1. Astralis removed Ancient
  2. FaZe removed Vertigo
  3. Astralis picked Overpass
  4. FaZe picked Inferno
  5. Astralis removed Dust2
  6. FaZe removed Nuke
  7. Mirage was left over

1) The first confrontation map started with a devastating defense against FaZe Clan. The Danes from Astralis managed to take only three rounds on the attack side on their Overpass map. But as soon as they switched to defense, they began to show a good level of play against the top 1 team in the world. Although they lost the pistol and eco rounds and the score was 14:3 in favor of FaZe Clan. After that, we saw a really significant streak and a comeback attempt, but it never came to fruition. FaZe Clan 16:13 Astralis.

2) On the second Inferno map, Astralis' defense was already an order of magnitude worse than on Overpass. The Danes lose the first half by a narrow margin. After switching sides, Astralis doesn't get a pistol round and they lose it. At the gun rounds, they were able to reach the point several times and win the round, but FaZe Clan were clearly better prepared today. Captain karrigan's team just played in default and did not show anything beyond new, that was enough to defeat Astralis. FaZe Clan 16:11 Astralis.

FaZe Clan follow Natus Vincere to the semifinals of the playoff stage. An interesting fact is that it was the top 1 and top 2 teams of the world ranking that showed the best results. The first opponent for FaZe will be the winning team from a pair of Movistar Riders and Team Liquid.

Astralis advance to the playoffs, where their first opponent will be the dark horse Mousesports.
