The Gambit and Virtus.pro teams will start the IEM Katowice 2022 playoffs from the quarterfinal stage. While Gambit managed to outplay NIP (2:0) in the lower bracket final, Virtus.pro failed to cope with Heroic (0:2), missing the opportunity to reach the 1/2 finals of the championship.

Heroic - Virtus.pro

The third meeting of the gaming day started on the Mirage map, which became the choice of the Danish team. At the same time, Heroic very soon announced its champion intentions, closing the first half with a devastating score of 10:5. At the same time, after switching sides, the Heroic players continued to stick to their line, winning without a chance at their own pick — 16:5.

The teams then moved to the Vertigo map, which turned out to be the choice of Virtus.pro. However, the team from the CIS very soon regretted their decision, at some point losing with a dry score. Moreover, several rounds won in the end, as well as a confident start for defense, did not help Virtus.pro return to the game. At the same time, Heroic easily and naturally finished the series, securing a place in the IEM Katowice 2022 semi-finals — 16:10.

Gambit-NIP

The parallel meeting began on the map Ancient, which became the choice of the Swedish team. At the same time, Gambit surprised the opponent by winning the first half in attack with a minimal score. At the same time, after the change of sides, the Russian team continued to bend its line, having managed to get a confident victory at the enemy's peak - 16:10.

Then the teams moved to the Vertigo map, where NIP had an overwhelming advantage at the start. However, closer to the switchover, the Russian team managed to equalize the situation and reduce the gap to one round. The start of the second half was left for the Swedes, who, having won the pistol round, managed to run ahead. But Gambit's defense turned out to be adamant, thanks to which the team confidently closed their own pick and eliminated NIP from the tournament — 16:12.
