The general information
Champions Cup Finals 2019 will take place in Saint Julian’s, Malta on December 19-22. The conference hall of the hotel InterContinental will be a venue and the overall prize pool of the event will amount $300,000. Eight teams will take part in the distribution, three of which have received direct invites and the rest of them have qualified through regional leagues.
The format
The championship will start with the group stage. Eight participants will be divided into two groups with four in each. The teams will play by the GSL system, namely, in a double-elimination. The first matches will be hosted in a bo1 format and all the rest will be carried out in a bo3 series. The two worst participants from each group will be eliminated from the competition and the teams to place first and second will proceed to the playoffs.
The final stage will be hosted in a single-elimination bracket and all matches, including the grand final, will be held in a bo3 format. Unlike the majority of championships, the organizers of Champions Cup Finals 2019 will be host the third-place match. Due to the prize for the 3rd and 4th places will differ, the teams, which lost in the semi-final, will have a motivation not to relax and to continue fighting.
The distribution of grabs
The teams to place 7th-8th will earn money prizes in the sum of $10,000, while the teams to hold the 5th-6th place in the standings will earn $15,000. The participants to proceed to the playoffs and place 4th and 3rd will earn $20,000 and $30,000, respectively. The vice-champion will earn $50,000 and the winner of the competition will receive the most solid reward in the sum of $150,000.
Participants
As was said previously, only 3 participants out of 8 received direct invitations. ENCE, FURIA Esports, and G2 Esports have become the lucky owners of invitations. TYLOO passed through the Champions Cup in China, BIG, Hard Legion Esports, Movistar Riders, and Team Spirit passed through the European Champions Cup.
