Patch 13.5 overview: global Yummi overhaul, champion balance and item changes
Yuriy SheremetOn the evening of 7 March, Riot Games unveiled another planned patch 13.5 for League of Legends. The update proved to be quite extensive, with fewer changes to the champions than in 13.4, but they proved to be critical.
The main point of discussion in the community about patch 13.5 was the Yummi redesign. The omnipresent, deadly, and lovable charmer cat got a welcome change: Riot hope that the champion will slow down first on the pro scene, and also on the high elo ranks by becoming a more friendly character for newcomers.
Time will tell if Riot is successful. Patch 13.5 is already on the League of Legends servers, and we highlight the main changes of the character.
Yummi Revamp
Let's start with the birthday girl, the supporting champion Yummi. The announcement of Yummi's redesign happened back in December 2022, and now it has made its way to the live servers.
The problem with Yummi was its excessively high healing rates, introducing an imbalance late in the game. Yummi was used in pairs with resistant melee fighters, which abused the professional stage and.
In patch 13.5, Riot decided to change this. To do so, the Yummi passive ability has been globally redesigned, and in addition the basic champion spell has been changed as well.
Feline Friendship (passive skill)
- Cure: Yummi is cured when she hits a champion with a skill or an auto-attack. If she binds to an ally within 4 seconds after that, the ally is healed as well. If Yummi is already tethered, the effect is triggered automatically.
- Friendship bond: By binding to an ally, Yummi accumulates friendship charges when her partner kills champions or minions. Each ally generates a different friendship level. When Yummi bonds with her best friend, her skills have bonus effects.
- Reload: 20-10 seconds (at levels 1-11)
- Healing: 25-110 (+15% ability power) (at levels 1-18)
- Range: When Yummi has a passive skill ready, her attack range is increased by 50.
You and me!
- Adaptive Force: Yummi and her partner no longer receive a boost in Adaptive Strength.
- Unfair: Yummi no longer counts as a positive effect for Summoning Fluffy.
- Best friend bonus: Yummi's healing and shields effectiveness is increased by 10-20% (depending on her ally's level). Additionally, her best friend restores 3/5/7/9/11 (+4% of skill strength) health when hit. This is affected by the effectiveness of Yummi's healing and shields.
Catch-up.
- Shields instead of healing: now gives allies shields instead of healing.
- Reload: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 seconds.
- Mana Costs: 80/90/100/110/120
- Shield Strength: 90/120/150/180/210 (+30% of ability power)
- Additional Movement Speed: As long as the Shield of Yummi still exists, allied movement speed is increased by 20%. Effect lasts until shield is destroyed or gone after 3 seconds.
- Additional attack speed: 35% (+8% for each 100 skill strength)
- Restore Mana to partner: Yummi restores 20/24/28/32/36 mana to his partner (but not to himself). This can be increased up to 100% depending on partner's mana shortage (ranging from 30% to 80% of mana shortage).
- Help Paw: Catching up has no best friend bonus, because Yummi must be able to save all allies.
Last Chapter.
- Skill description: for 3.5 seconds, Yummi releases 5 magic waves that affect enemies and allies. If the skill is applied when it is tethered, the direction of the waves can be changed with the mouse. When hitting allied champions the waves heal them. Best friend's treatment effectiveness is increased by 130%. Excess healing turns into a shield, which exists for 3 seconds after the skill ends. When hitting any enemies, the waves deal damage and slow them down (the effect is cumulative).
- Reload: 110/100/90 seconds - 120/110/100 seconds
- Magic Damage per Wave: 60/80/100 (+20% of ability power) - 75/100/125 (+20% of ability power)
- Treatment per Wave: 35/50/65 (+15% Intelligence Power)
- Deceleration Time: 1.25 seconds
- Slowdown: 10% + 10% for each additional wave (Max: 50%)
- Best Friend Bonus: Waves give Best Friend Yummi 20/40/60 (+10% of skill strength) armor and magic resistance. The additions last until the skill expires.
Yummi's upgraded passive ability will force the champion to stay in line with the shooter for longer periods of time. Since the character starts the game on the bottom line, it's obvious that cairns will be a high priority target for Yummi's support.
Weakening of Ashe, Aurelion Sol, Caitlyn and changes to Azir
In patch 13.5, the changes have also affected another super popular support character. Not as infuriating as Yummi, but a strong all-rounder - Frelljord's ice archer Ashe.
The rework includes the Archer's Concentration, Charge, and Enchanted Ice Arrow abilities. Ashe is simple: Riot will weaken her at the Sapper position and strengthen her at the Archer position.
Focused Arrow.
- Mana cost: 50 - 30.
- Amplification duration: 4 seconds - 6 seconds.
Charge
- Physical Damage: 20/35/50/65/80 (+100% of attack power) - 10/25/40/55/70 (+100% of attack power)
Enchanted Ice Arrow
- Reload: 80/70/60 seconds - 100/80/60 seconds
Other popular characters also got hit by Riot, like Aurelion Sol and Caitlyn. Both champs have been given 'soft' weakenings.
Aurelion Sol
Key stats
- Health gain: 100 - 95
- Armor Growth: 4.6 - 4.3
Breath of the Sun
- Blast Damage: 20-40 (depending on level) (+40/50/60/70/80) (+40% of ability power) (+(0.031% of Star Matter) from target's maximum health)
Caitlyn
Basic Stats
- Armor: 28 - 27
- Attack Power: 62 - 60
Such changes are designed to reduce the characters' agility in the early stages of the game, and will be levelled out as the game progresses. Similar changes have been made to Azir, who will now be friendlier to new recruits.
Azir
Unforgiving Sands
- Magic Damage: 70/90/110/130/150 (+30% of skill power) ⇒ 60/80/100/120/140 (+35% of skill power)
- Mana Costs: 55 ⇒ 65/70/75/80/85
Rise!
- Slow Warriors: 15/25/35/45/55% Passive Attack Speed ⇒ 50/60/70/80/90 Extra Magic Damage
- Total Magic Damage: 50-150 (depending on level) (+55% of ability power) ⇒ 50-200 (depending on Azir level and level) (+55% of ability power)
Movable Sand
- Magic Damage: 60/100/140/180/220 (+55% of skill strength) ⇒ 60/100/140/180/220 (+40% of skill strength)
Among other things, Azir has received an upgrade to the passive skill Legacy of Shurima. The sun disk summoned by the emperor will now be more effective.
Sun Disk will deal more damage from the start (210-430 instead of 150 +4 per minute) and will receive an increased increase in skill power: from +15% to +40%. HP was raised slightly (from 2,500 to 3,000), as well as disc armor (from +60 and 1 unit per minute to +30-90 depending on level).
However, there were a few passive weakenings as well. For example, the duration of Sun Disc was reduced (from 60 to 30 seconds), and when Azir dies, the disc loses 100 armor and magic resistance.
In addition to the above changes to 5 champions, Riot have worked with 16 more. To find out about the other changes in patch 13.5, please visit the update page.
Recall that the League of Legends developers have recently introduced a new champion for the Ravine of Summoners. He will be a fire sorcerer Milio, which we told you about in this article.
