Format of MSI 2023
The biggest new feature and opener of the Mid-Season Invitational in the 2023 iteration is a redesigned tournament format. For the first time in the tournament's history, MSI 2023 will feature a Double-Elimination grid and they have also reduced the number of stages, reducing them to two from three last year.
The Double-Elimination grid will start at Play-In, where competitors will play out three slots in the tournament's play-offs. The winners of the quarter-finals of the upper net and the winner of the play-offs will advance to the final stage of MSI 2023.
The play-off phase will offer the participants a standard Double-Elimination with five matches. The teams who made it to the main tournament via the Play-In and the teams who made it directly to the tournament will meet there.
After getting acquainted with the details of MSI 2023 format, it is worth taking a look at the list of participants in the main tournament of spring.
