July 18 marked the third day of group stage action at VCT EMEA Stage 2, with fans treated to intense and hard-fought series. Team Heretics and Fnatic emerged victorious with 2–1 wins, strengthening their positions in Groups Alpha and Omega respectively.
Heretics Turn the Series Around Against BBL Esports
The day kicked off with Team Heretics facing BBL Esports in Group Alpha. The series started disastrously for Heretics — on the opening map Icebox, they were completely outplayed, losing 5–13 as BBL dominated every phase of the game.
However, Heretics bounced back on Haven, finding their rhythm and securing a confident 13–9 win. The decider was played on Sunset, where both teams fought tooth and nail. In a tense finish, Heretics managed to edge out a 13–11 victory, taking the series 2–1.
The comeback win was crucial for Heretics, keeping them in the playoff race and proving their ability to recover under pressure.
Fnatic Outlast Karmine Corp in a Tight Series
Later in the day, Fnatic went up against Karmine Corp in Group Omega. From the outset, Fnatic looked in control — they took Bind with a commanding 13–6 victory.
The second map, Lotus, was far more competitive. Karmine Corp pushed Fnatic to their limits, but the latter held strong in overtime to close the map 15–13. Despite KC's resistance on Icebox, Fnatic finished the job and sealed the series 2–1.
This win was vital for Fnatic as they continue their campaign in Group Omega, with every match bringing them closer to a spot in the playoffs.
Group Stage Pressure Ramps Up
