Riot Teases Future Updates for VALORANT Mobile and Console Prospects: What to Expect in the Coming Year
Bogdan LashchenkoVALORANT, a game currently exclusive to PC, has garnered a massive global player base. Riot Games has openly expressed plans to expand the first-person shooter to additional platforms, including mobile devices. A recent press conference at the VCT Masters Madrid offered some insights into the progress of VALORANT's migration to mobile and potentially other platforms.
The mobile version of VALORANT was initially announced in 2021, yet nearly three years have passed without substantial updates on its development. Despite this, leaked footage from playtests appears promising, fueling anticipation for an eventual launch.
Riot faces the challenging task of developing a PC game for mobile platforms from scratch, and the slow pace of communication regarding this process has left many in the community eager for news.
Updates on VALORANT Mobile and Other Platforms Expected This Year
At the VCT Masters Madrid, Anna Donlon, Riot's studio head for VALORANT, addressed inquiries about the mobile version's progress. She acknowledged the ongoing development but admitted there were no significant updates to share at the moment.
“Development continues on VALORANT Mobile. While I don't have a significant update today, we are diligently working on the game and its gameplay,” Donlon stated. She expressed hope that more information might be shared later in the year, though no concrete timeline was provided, particularly not confirming an update for 2024.
Regarding the possibility of a console version, Donlon appeared somewhat more optimistic about providing updates within the year. “We've been transparent about exploring other platforms to see if we can deliver VALORANT's premier gaming experience, considering the different control schemes. I'm hopeful for some solid updates this year,” she remarked.
While Riot has not officially announced VALORANT for consoles, job listings for console developers at Riot have led to speculation among players. The specifics of which consoles might host the game remain unconfirmed, leaving the community waiting for further announcements.
