Riot Games has officially announced that ORDER and Chiefs will skip VCT 2021: North America Last Chance Qualifier. Both Australian teams will not be able to participate in the championship due to coronavirus restrictions.
Both Oceania teams were scheduled to debut in the 2021 VCT at the North America Last Chance Qualifier, the region's only qualifying championship. The event was set to be another watershed event for Oceania when the Chiefs signed the PEACE roster weeks before the event.
However, restrictions on countries due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic will prevent teams from arriving in North America to compete in the championship.
Riot Games is expected to present an updated format for the VCT 2021: North America Last Chance Qualifier shortly and will make changes to the tournament grid.
VCT 2021: The North America Last Chance Qualifier will take place October 10-17 in Los Angeles. Eight North American teams will compete for one ticket to VALORANT Champions 2021.
The current lineup for VCT 2021: North America Last Chance Qualifier is as follows:
- 100 Thieves.
- FaZe Clan.
- Luminosity Gaming.
- Cloud9 Blue.
- Gen.G Esports.
