Worlds 2025 Kicks Off in China — Dates, Format, and Drops

The 2025 League of Legends World Championship will be special—it marks the 15th anniversary of LoL Esports. Worlds returns to China under the theme EARN YOUR LEGACY, reminding everyone that greatness must be earned.

Dates and Stages

Play-In Stage: October 14, Beijing (Bo5)

Swiss Stage: October 15–25, Beijing (Bo1, Bo3)

Knockout Stage: October 28 – November 9, Shanghai and Chengdu (Bo5)

  • Quarterfinals: October 28–31
  • Semifinals: November 1–2
  • Final: November 9, Chengdu

Format

The Swiss Stage draw kicks off on October 14. In Round 1, Tier 1 teams face Tier 3, while Tier 2 play each other, with no same-region matchups allowed.

In later rounds, teams face others with the same record, with no repeat matches.

On October 25, the Knockout Stage draw will determine the quarterfinals, with eight teams advancing from Swiss.

Drops

Drops are back—this is the last chance in 2025 to earn exclusive rewards including emotes, an icon, and the Esports 2025 Capsule. There will also be special drops from partners such as Coinbase, Crunchyroll, and Opera GX.
