Gen.G Eliminate FlyQuest from LoL EWC 2025 with a 2:0 Victory
The final match of the day determined the last team to advance to the Semifinals of the League of Legends Esports World Cup 2025. It was a showdown between the MSI 2025 champions Gen.G and LTA North representatives FlyQuest.
Game 1 Picks:
- Gen.G: Rumble, Vi, Taliyah, Ezreal, Neeko
- FlyQuest: Aurora, Skarner, Azir, Corki, Bard
Game 2 Picks:
- Gen.G: Gwen, Wukong, Ryze, Lucian, Braum
- FlyQuest: Sett, Lillia, Cassiopeia, Senna, Rakan
Gen.G entered this match as clear favorites, and they lived up to that title. FlyQuest certainly put in a good effort — at times it even felt like they could take either map — but a few failed attempts to collapse on one or two Gen.G champions ended poorly. Either they lacked the damage or were outplayed by Gen.G’s perfect kiting. By the time the fight started to go in FlyQuest’s favor, Gen.G would already be collapsing as a unit and turning the skirmish around.
It’s difficult to single out an MVP because Gen.G played like a well-oiled machine. The kills were spread evenly, and every player contributed. However, special mention should go to the bot lane duo of Ruler and Duro, who played exceptionally well.
With this win, Gen.G secure the final Semifinal spot, where they’ll face G2 Esports, who delivered an impressive performance against Bilibili Gaming. Gen.G will need to approach this next match with full focus.
Meanwhile, FlyQuest are eliminated, finishing in the 5th–8th place range at LoL EWC 2025.
The League of Legends EWC 2025 runs from July 16 to July 20, bringing together 12 of the world’s best teams to compete for the championship title and a $2,000,000 USD prize pool. With multiple matches happening each day, be sure to follow along for all the latest esports updates.
