T1 Defeat MKOI in the Quarterfinals of LoL EWC 2025

A thrilling match took place in the Quarterfinals of the Esports World Cup 2025 between T1 and MKOI. The series was intense and competitive, with plenty to discuss — let’s take a closer look at how it all unfolded.

Game 1 Picks:

  • T1: Rumble, Pantheon, Azir, Ezreal, Neeko
  • MKOI: Aurora, Poppy, Taliyah, Corki, Nautilus

Game 2 Picks:

  • T1: Ambessa, Trundle, Ryze, Kai’Sa, Rell
  • MKOI: Gwen, Xin Zhao, Galio, Jinx, Alistar

Game 3 Picks:

  • T1: Jax, Skarner, Viktor, Varus, Tahm Kench
  • MKOI: K’Sante, Jarvan IV, Ahri, Miss Fortune, Rakan

MKOI put up a strong fight, but one recurring issue ultimately cost them the series. Their mid laner, jojopyun, played very well — often even outplaying Faker in lane — but he received little to no support. Every time he started to pressure Faker, either Oner or Keria would be there, frequently securing kills for Faker. Once ahead, the T1 mid laner knew exactly how to snowball his lead and close out the game.

Despite the Bo3 scoreline suggesting a relatively close match, MKOI made some crucial mistakes during key teamfights — especially in target selection — which T1 capitalized on repeatedly. A series of poor decisions led to their eventual downfall.

The MVP of the match was undoubtedly T1.Oner. His presence across the map was exceptional — at times, it felt like he was everywhere at once. Farming efficiently, creating space, and constantly helping his lanes, Oner delivered a textbook performance as a jungler.

T1 now advance to the Semifinals, where they’ll face Anyone’s Legend in a Bo3 for a spot in the Grand Final. Unfortunately, MKOI are eliminated from the tournament, finishing in the 5th–8th place range.
