Play-In matches at Worlds 2022 have ended in Mexico City. In the final round of the qualifying stage, two pairs of teams played for the main event, the first of which were Evil Geniuses and MAD Lions .

The “Western” derby was supposed to be the main delight of the evening, but in fact we got a one-way rout with not the most expected outcome. The North American club Evil Geniuses defeated their counterparts MAD Lions with a score of 3-0.

The result was unexpected due to the balance of power of the teams after the first Play-In, where EG showed a crumpled game, and MAD Lions showed a good performance due to the personal qualities of the performers, like Elyoya. By the way, only 15% of League of Legends fans chose EG as the winner in the in-game Pick-Em.

Evil Geniuses will reunite with their LCS colleagues in the group stage of Worlds 2022. The team will play in a quartet with Damwon Gaming, G2 Esports and JD Gaming.

MAD Lions, despite a brisk start at Play-In Round #2, failed to counter the onslaught of EG and naturally left Worlds 2022. The fourth team in Europe ends up in the TOP-18, earning ~$38,000.

The Worlds 2022 group stage will start on October 7 at 23:00 CET. 16 teams, including Evil Geniuses, will compete for 8 spots in the playoffs.
