LPL Spring 2023 is the continuation of the biggest regional league in modern LoL. The battle for $604,000 and two berths to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023 features 17 teams from China.

The venue for the LPL Spring 2023 tournament will be Shanghai's Hongqiao Tiandi. The championship will run from January 14 to March 26, 2023 and will feature battles between some of the best teams in the local League of Legends, and some of the biggest clubs in the world: Edward Gaming, JD Gaming, TOP Esports, IG, RNG and others.

LPL Spring 2023 holds a special place in the League of Legends schedule and will please with an abundance of games due to the special format. The Chinese League Spring Split takes place every week from Monday to Sunday.

About the tournament

Highlights of LPL Spring 2023

The LPL Spring Split 2023 will pit top Chinese competitors against each other. Seventeen teams will compete for a record $604,000 prize pool in the regional leagues.

An added motivation for the LPL Spring 2023 participants will be the opportunity to attend the first international LAN tournament of the year, the Mid-Season Invitational 2023 to be held in London. The capital of the United Kingdom will be visited by the top two teams from China.

  • The list of LPL Spring 2023 participants includes Anyone`s Legend, Bilibili Gaming, EDward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Invictus Gaming, JD Gaming, LGD Gaming, LNG Esports, NiP, OMG, Rare Atom, Royal Never Give Up, Team WE, ThuderTalk Gaming, TOP Esports, Ultra Prime and Weibo Gaming.

NiP will be the new face of the Chinese LPL league for the spring 2023 season. The Swedish club has secured the franchise slot of local club Victory Five.

Participants in the LPL Spring 2023 will draw 604,000, but not everyone will qualify for the prizes. The cash prize will go to the top six teams, while the remaining clubs will retain their place in the league and participate in LPL Summer 2023.

Format of LPL Spring 2023

The LPL Spring 2023 split will take place in several stages. First, 17 teams will play the group stage (regular season) and then move on to the playoffs.

The group stage will follow the Single Round Robin format with 3 bouts. At the end of the matches, 10 teams make it to the play-offs.

The teams in the regular season top 2 will play in the semi-finals, 3rd and 4th places in the last round of the main draw, teams in 5th and 6th place will make the play-offs in the 2nd round and teams in 7th-10th place will play in the first round of the main draw.

The LPL Spring 2023 play-offs will be divided into two phases. First, the 3rd to 10th ranked teams will be split into two nets where they will play in a King-of-the-Hill format. At the end of the first phase, 4 teams will advance.

The final round will be played in Double Elimination format. All matches, including the grand final, will be played to three victories (bo5). Winner and runners-up in LPL Summer 2023 will advance to MSI 2023.
