We continue to look at what's happening in DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division. The competition is gaining momentum, with Nigma Galaxy and Entity gearing up for their debut match.

The European clubs had very different experiences last week. While Entity made it to the majors at the end of DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division - Tour 1 and did very well there, Nigma Galaxy barely managed to clinch the top division for the second round.

Entity finished 4th in the regular season last cycle. After finishing the league at 4-3, the team found themselves in a round-robin replay with three teams that managed to secure a slot in the Lima Major 2023.

Nigma Galaxy finished in the first round with a score on the borderline, 6th place. The team played out the event with a score of 2-5, managing to pull themselves together at the last minute.

Entity Form

We start the showdown with an analysis of Entity's form. They will be playing this match as favourites.

The bookmakers clearly believe in Entity's success. The odds on the club's victory are estimated at around 1.25.

After going through the tiebreaks Entity went to the Lima Major 2023. The Peruvian tournament started well but ended badly.

After the group stage, Entity made it to the top of the playoffs before losing to the eventual champions from Gladiators. In the bottom set, they looked helpless against Talon Esports.

Also Entity have been playing in outside tournaments. At the BB Xmas Show, the team finished in the Top 6, but that was a long time ago and not true.

Treant Protector who has appeared in 8 games has a 62% winning percentage. On a par with Treant is Rubick, who has also appeared 8 times and has a similar winning percentage.

Slightly worse is Undying with 50% win rate in the same 8 matches. Almost the only team playing the Invoker. Stormstormer rolled their signature 6 times and won 4.

Given the recently released patch 7.32e, Entity will be fumbling for meta. Wouldn't be surprised to see a conditional Abaddon cary and a Hoodwink middling.

Nigma Galaxy will stand on the other side of the barricades. The team will play as underdogs, as if it could be otherwise.

The odds of a Nigma Galaxy win are said to be in the region of 3.2. At the start of the season, that number per team is still OK, it could be worse, considering

Last season, Nigma Galaxy tried to tweak the game with a revamped squad. It came out with mixed success, but they kept their first league slot, and that's what counts.

There are no changes to Nigma Galaxy's active roster for the second season. Miracle seems to be in no hurry to return from holiday, and it's not certain he needs it.

If we are talking about players, they are all in place, that's a fact, but still, Nigma have made spot changes in the roster. ImmortalFaith, who has been in the position for one season, has left the team.

Perhaps the specialist who replaced him will be able to pull the star-studded squad out of stagnation, but I find it hard to believe. However, the new patch may help freshen things up.

Nigma Galaxy's performance

Nigma Galaxy failed in the first round of the DPC, but they survived the collapse. They finished the season 2-5, which was enough to secure their place in the top division.

In the course of DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division - Tour 1, Nigma Galaxy lost to just about anyone, but managed to take two matches towards the end of the season. First, they beat their main rival for the top division, Team Secret, and then they kept OG out of the majors.

Even before the start of DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division - Tour 1, Nigma Galaxy played at the BB Xmas Show, where they finished top 8, with a direct playoff inquest in mind.

From last season, you can see that Nigma played a bit of "their" Dota, often discarding the conventional canons. This approach almost brought Nigma to the critical point, but at the last moment they managed to stay afloat.

The teams played each other in the first round of DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division - Tour 1. In that match, Nigma Galaxy failed to claw their way to victory and KuroKy and company lost 0-2.

In this match, the logical option would be to pick Entity as the winner. Compared to Nigma, they play better Dota, but there is one big "but" - it's a freshly released patch.

Since these will be the first official games with the updated metha, I wouldn't be in a hurry to pour all the money in the world on Entity. As far as I'm concerned, Nigma has a chance to snag one map, which is what the betting will be on.
