Match Prediction: PSG.LGD - RNG | Dota 2
The International 2022: Group StageWe continue to follow the ups and downs at The International 2022. The group stage of the main event of the year continues in Singapore, and that “notorious” magic of DotA is already hovering there.
Now we will talk about group A, where the teams directly create magic. More specifically, we are talking about the central flow opposition in group A on the third game day. The match between Royal Never Give Up and PSG.LGD is definitely not to be missed.
We figure out how the Chinese derby will end and what outcome awaits the team after this fight.
Form PSG.LGD
PSG.LGD will be the favorite for this match. The chance of the Chinese giant to win is estimated by the bookmakers with a coefficient of around 2.8.
It is quite unusual to see such numbers near the PSG.LGD name. Over the past few years, PSG.LGD have been “accustomed” to their academic and clarity, but this year even they fail.
As the 2022 season progressed, the team seemed to show no signs of trouble, winning Chinese leagues in the first half of the year. The first bells came in the third round of the DPC, when the team dropped its sleeves and gave cards to not the most formidable opponents and, as a result, almost missed the Major.
The only major of the season in Arlington PSG.LGD finished in 2nd place, which dispelled doubts about their condition. Dispelled before the start of The International 2022.
The start of the main Dota championship in 2022 can be called one of the worst for the club in its long history. PSG.LGD started with losses and draws, having not scored a single victory on the debut day.
PSG.LGD results at The International 2022
- Draw with Hokori 1-1
- Lost to Evil Geniuses 0-2
- Draw with Soniqs 1-1
- 2-0 victory over OG
PSG.LGD woke up only on the second day, radically changing their approach to the game and tactics in general. Perhaps the languid performance was at first an act of blurring the eyes?
Every year, PSG.LGD come to the tournament as the main favorite for Aegis, and every year they are under the scrutiny of all participants in The International. However, let's put aside the SPGS for now.
PSG.LGD roster
- Ame
- NothingToSay
- Faith_bian
- XInQ
- y`
It is not entirely clear yet whether PSG.LGD are ready to play to the full here and now. It seems that in the match against RNG it's time to turn on the maximum.
Heroes PSG.LGD
Perhaps PSG.LGD can't cope with the meta, but they seem to play it with their own inclusions. Primal Beast, Slark, Puck appear in spades, but there are also Zeus with Terrorblade. PSG.LGD continues to rate Tiny for XinQ, but there is no noticeable impact from him.
On the second day we added Natures Prophet to the first position and Pangolier for NothingToSay. Also flashed Venomancer and other "nice" heroes for the pace.
Royal Never Give Up Form
In the status of an outsider, Royal Never Give Up will suit the match. The chance of this Chinese TOP club to win is estimated at 4.4.
Exactly, like PSG.LGD, odds above 4 are not the most typical for Royal Never Give Up. Although, remember their performance over the course of the year, and you can put up with such indicators.
There were also 3rd place in the first round and 4th in the second round of the Chinese League. The only Major that the Chinese teams got to ended with a disappointing TOP-12 for RNG. However, the main thing was to win the Chinese qualifiers for The International 2022, with which RNG did an excellent job.
At The International 2022 itself, the team plays seriously. One can feel the spirit of those DotA mastodons represented by Somnus, kaka and others.
Royal Never Give Up Results
- Draw against Team Liquid 1-1
- 2-0 victory over BB
- 2-0 victory over BOOM
- 2-0 victory over Soniqs
Only one draw for RNG is, according to the sensations, the maximum that the players will allow themselves. This is the kind of vibe given by the games of “kings”, where they get victory in different styles, using either Naga Siren or Anti-Mage.
Royal Never Give Up line-up
- Ghost
- Somnus
- Chalice
- kaka
- xNova
It is very entertaining to watch the RNG match against PSG.LGD, if only for the reason that former teammates will meet on the battlefield. Ame vs Somnus, Chalice and xNova. This is a storyline, this is a duel.
Heroes Royal Never Give Up
RNG play for their mid player. The most popular characters for them in patch 7.32 were Puck (3 matches, 100% win rate), Queen of Pain (3 matches, 100% win rate).
Also picked Chen (3 matches, 66% win rate), Tiny (3 matches, 66% win rate).
The International is played “wide”: pick Naga Siren or Anti-Mage to position 1, take Drow Ranger and Lone Druid. In general, they play with all the most popular and effective, which is bearing fruit. I also note that RNG are incredibly worth the lanes - I have never seen them fill the lanes.
History of personal confrontations
The last meeting between the clubs in the current rosters took place in the group stage of PGL Arlington Major 2022. Then the victory was celebrated by PSG.LGD
Match outcome
In this fight, I expect a high-quality DotA with a potential turn to either side. Both teams can easily close the series 2-0 and there is a feeling that it will. So far, it's just not clear in which direction.
I will make my choice in favor of RNG. I am impressed by their versatility and willingness to perform on virtually everything. Speaking of laning, RNG shouldn't have any problems there, and given that in recent games PSG.LGD has replaced NothingToSay as a front laner and basically a support character from the mid lane, there is a chance that Somnus will destroy his counterpart and win in solo.
Outcome: victory for RNG.
PSG.LGD and RNG will play almost for the upper bracket of the playoffs. LGD after the first day of play scored and confidently walked through Western Europe, success with OG and Liquid.
RNG just play consistently and win, except for a draw with Liquid, there were no missteps, however, the level of rivals is Soniqs/BB Team/BOOM Esports and Gladiators.
PSG.LGD is clearly no better, they managed to give away 1 card with Soniqs and Hokori, and also without a chance to lose to EG. PSG.LGD's drafts changed significantly, they started playing more for their mid player, abandoned Lich and, roughly speaking, started playing in METU INTA.
Against PSG.LGD they are constantly banned: Marci/Morphling/Faceless Void, but against Royal Never Give Up in the first stage, the emphasis is on Somnus and his Shadow Fiend, but in the second one you need to refuse Broodmother, and Lone Druid, and Morphling, and from Ursa, and from Visage. In general, an interesting game will be here, both teams have Brood, Druid and Morph in the pool. It will be interesting to watch how the teams prepare for each other.
RNG (top 1 of the group) with 4 wins and 1 draw; 9 won - 1 lost
PSG.LGD (top 3 groups) with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss: 6 wins - 4 losses
RNG Path at TI11:
- Draw with Liquid (top 3)
- Win with BetBoom (top 9)
- Win with BOOM (top 8)
- Victory with Soniqs (top 9)
- Victory with Gladiators (top 6)
PSG.LGD path at TI11:
- Draw with Hokori (top 6)
- Lose from EG (top 2)
- Draw with Soniqs (top 9)
- Win with OG (top 3)
- Victory with Liquid (top 3)
If you take it objectively, then RNG played cool in the first days, but with frankly weak teams; but PSG.LGD, although they messed up with outsiders, then took out OG and Liquid without a chance.
In general, RNG can relax after the guaranteed 80% upper bracket, while PSG.LGD really needs a win in order to break away from Liquid/OG/Gladiators.
It is also important to take into account the fact that there is a penalty for PSG.LGD, they will not be able to choose a side with RNG, but this will not really affect, LGD love Dire, and RNG love Radiant. Therefore, if RNG takes Dire for themselves, then they have prepared something for PSG.LGD.
It is logical here 1:1, it is hard to believe in the victory of one of the teams, everything will be decided at the draft stage. The safest bet that RNGs won't lose is 1.5. The main fight for Brood/Morph/Leshrac/Void.
Prediction: RNG will take one card from PSG.LGD - odds 1.5
