Zhang «y`» Yiping is a professional Dota 2 player of Chinese origin. He started his career in 2014 and has already become a champion at numerous prestigious tournaments including his victory at The International World Championship in 2016. Let us take a look at the way how y` became an esportsman.
Beginning of Career
As the majority of esportsmen, y` had started his journey to becoming a champion long before he joined a professional organization. He spent a lot of time playing competitive computer games which was a defining factor when he was choosing which career he wants to pursue in the future.
The first club where y` played was Speed Gaming.cn. As a member of the team, y` took part in minor local championships trying to make it to the top of the Chinese Dota hierarchy. AT first, the gamer’s results were not so outstanding. His best result as part of Speed Gaming.cn was fourth place at the V Games Tournament.
In August 2014, y` moved to Wings Gaming. The gamer played there till December 2014, and after that he got inactive till August 2015.
In August 2015, he returned to Wings Gaming. This was a tipping point in the gamer’s career.
Wings Gaming
After y` became a member of Wings, the gamer started to work hard to build a strong team. It took him over half a year to do it and he saw first good results in 2016. In April 2016, the team won ESL One Manila 2016. It was the first worthy victory in the esportsman’s career. Being inspired by the necessary result, the team kept on working.
In July, the team took second place at Nanyang Dota 2 Championships Season 2, and also won The Summit 5. The team was to go through a new challenge – The International 2016. Wings nailed it and event became world champions. This result was absolutely unexpected for fans of competitive Dota.
Later, in November 2016, the team won Northern Arena BEAT Invitational. However, it was the last good result for the champion roster.
In April 2017, y` and his teammates moved to Team Random but after a scandal, the team fell apart literally one month later. Some gamers could not recover after the incident but y` found a new team. It was EHOME.
EHOME and PSG.LGD.
Zhang became an EHOME player in May 2017. The first tournament for a new team was qualifiers for 2017 The International that were failed by the team. The following year was happening in the same way. The team showed middling results at championships mainly playing at minor local tournaments. The situation changed only in 2019.
In January 2019, the team won The Bucharest Minor and three months later took second place at OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019. After that there was another stagnation year which was finished by a victory at DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1 in May 2020. Then there was the second season of the DPL-CDA Professional League that was also won by EHOME.
In September 2020, y` moved to PSG.LGD. As part of PSG.LGD, y` won China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 and took first place at OGA Dota PIT S3: China in October 2020.
In his career, y` earned over 2,090,000 dollars of grabs.
