In brief:
Mousesports is a European esports organization with a rich history. mousesports are mainly known thanks to the Counter-Strike subdivision, however, it was not the only roster of the club.
Let us walk you through the history of the Dota subdivision of mousesports.
First Appearance
mousesports was firstly heard about in the times of the first Dota. Then the club joined the discipline in 2007 when the mix of Back to Basics which was represented by Milo, Kog, bluTgeiL, PlaymatE, Jacklin, Fragalot, Mirakel, Drayich and other famous players of those times.
The biggest success of the times of the first Dota for mousesports happened in 2008-2009. Then there were the following players in the roster:
· Miracle
· TwisteD
· LevenT
· KuroKy
· Away
Those five players managed to win Farm 4 Fame #2. However, when the mentioned gamers left the club, mousesports decided to halt work of the organization in the discipline referring to its low level of professionalism.
mousesports’ Return and Dota 2
mousesports’s return to the professional Dota stage happened in December 2011. After The International 2011, the European organization decided to get a roster in the discipline as the prospects were not so pessimistic there.
mousesports returned with signing EBIN’s roster. The team consisted of:
· Rexi
· DeMeNt
· SingSing
· Trixi
· twiSta
However, that roster was not to play together for long and the first changes happened in January 2012. Then SexyBamboe replaced twiSta.
The renewed mousesports roster got down to performing at all possible tournament. However, the roster did not gain many stars for their work.
The first several championships were not so fruitful. Mousesports took 9th-12th place at D2E Challenge and Infused Cup, and also 7th-8th at The Defense Season 1.
Then the team got placed 5th-8th at Team Dignitas Invitational. In March, mousesports won their first tournament since they had joined Dota 2. It was Dota2Replays Brawl. A month later, after a series of failures, mousesports won another championship. That was The Arena #1.
However, the gamers did not get any luck at major events of those times. This was what happened at StarLadder StarSeries Season 1.
In May 2012, mousesports started changing the roster: the team lost dement, trixi, and Rexi, and their slots were taken by Fire and twiSta. Later the team took on Black^, and several weeks later ComeWithMe replaced Fire who had just joined the roster.
Mousesports started to prepare for the main tournament of the year – The International 2012.
The period before TI 2 might be called pretty successful. The team always made it to the top of major championships. This is what happened at DreamHack Summer 2012 where mousesports took 3rd-4th place, and at GosuLeague Season 2 where mousesports became silver finalists.
Additionally, before TI2 the team took fourth place at The Premier League Season 2, second place at StarLadder StarSeries Season 2, and third place at The Premier League Masters.
In July, mousesports won GosuLeague Season 3, took third place at Prodota 2 Worldwide League, and became silver finalists at The Defense Season 2.
In August 2012, mousesports managed to make it to TI2, however, the team showed quite a mediocre result at the tournament.
13th-16th place at TI led to changes in the roster.
In September, the team dismissed 1437 and ComeWithMe, and their slots were given to Alex, KuroKy, and Kebap.
The renewed mousesports’ roster performed at SLTV Star Series Season 3, however, they were not to reach the top. After a streak of unsuccessful performances, mousesports reformed their roster. Its new lineup consisted of:
· Black^
· KuroKy
· Alex
· FATA-
· paS
At the end of the season 2012, the renewed roster played at several tournaments but all of them finished badly for the gamers. The best result at the end of the season was 4th-8th place at GosuLeague Season 5 Division 1.
Attempts to Assemble a Successful Roster and Slow Decline of mousesports
In 2013, mousesports went on experimenting with the roster and looking for an optimal roster. At the beginning of the year, the team dismissed KuroKy, and his slot was given to qojqva. Later Alex left the team and SyndereN was taken on.
Of course, all those reshuffles in the team were accompanied by attempts to show themselves, however, it did not come true all the time. Some of the significant results were second place at DotaHut Invitational and 3rd-4th place at SK Trophy #1. Also there were tries to pop at DreamHack Invitational 2013, Ritmix Russia Dota 2 League and others at titled tournaments, but there was no luck.
However, in the middle of the year mousesports managed to activate and had a series of great performances. The gamers qualified for The International 2013, and took second place at DotaCinema Rosh Pit, RaidCall Dota 2 League Season 3, The Premier League Season 5. Also, mousesports won RaidCall EMS One Summer Season.
Before The International, mousesports won the Corsair Gaming Summer Tournament. Those results should have inspired the team, but in fact The International 2013 was failed by mousesport: the players took 13th-16th place.
Obviously, TI3 triggered the replacement process in the team. First of all, the team said goodbye to Black^, and later to qojqva.
In October, mousesports announced a new Danish roster that consisted of:
· Ryze
· Cr1t
· Link
· Ace
· syndereN
Nevertheless, it did not take long time for the team to change the roster. In December, syndereN quit professional Dota, and mousesports started new reshuffles.
2013-2014
In January 2013, mousesports announced that they released the Dota 2 roster. The German organization remained without a team till May 2013.
In May 2013, mousesports signed a roster of Team Dog that was made up by:
· Pajkatt
· FATA
· MSS
· MiSeRy
· paS
This roster won American Dota League Season 1, took fourth place at DreamLeague Season 1, and 5th-8th at ESL One Frankfurt 2014.
However, at The International 2014 mousesports again faced distress and 11th-12th place.
After that, mousesports again left Dota 2 and returned there almost a year later, in May 2015.
The End of mousesports
In May 2015, mousesports again returned to the competitive Dota 2 stage when they signed Team Tinker. The team included:
· Black^
· qojqva
· BuLba
· Waytosexy
· pieliedie
The players failed The International 2015, they took 7th-8th place at joinDOTA MLG Pro League Season 2 and Dota Pit League Season 3.
In June, mousesports again left Dota 2 to return in April 2017 signing Greek roster of Ad Finem.
However, when the gamers joined mousesports, the former Ad Finem got worse in gaming.
They took 9th-16th place at The Kiev Major 2017, after that the gamers tried to make it to all possible tournaments including TI 2017. Their efforts were successful from time to time.
In the season 2017, the best result for mousesports was second place at WESG 2017 Europe Finals. The organization’s last tournament was the qualifying stage of ESL One Genting 2018 Europe. In December 2017, mousesports dismissed their last Dota 2 roster.
