The review of DreamLeague Season 12
Anton PashencevThe twelfth season of the Dota 2 tournament in the DreamLeague series was hosted on October 18-20. Six teams took part in the competition and the guys from Alliance became the winners. The time has come to make a conclusion.
The teams, which have disappointed
Team Liquid
Team Liquid can be called the only team, which has disappointed because the guys have been playing together for a pretty long time and moved under the tag of the esports club not to hold the last places. The roster struggled pretty a lot at the event and managed to make it only to the fourth place and, considering that there were only six participants - this result can't be called satisfying.
The only explanation of the result might be relaxation after their advancement to the Major and DPC points were not up for grabs at the event.
The teams, which have surprised
Alliance
It would be foolish to deny Astralis' power and bookmakers put the guys on the list of the favorites to advance to the finals not on the last place, however, very few people expected them to win the whole event. The team was assembled not so long time ago and has already won the qualifiers to the first Major of the season but there was no stability in their play and FATA and the company divided points with obvious outsiders for a couple of times. Astralis looked way stronger than opponents at the event and lost a map in the grand final for the first time, which they won, initially losing with a score 0:2.
Demon Slayers
The representatives of the team Demon Slayers who had advanced to the grand final have become the real breakthrough of the team Demon Slayers. The guys made it to DreamLeague through the North American qualifiers and Dota 2 fans and analysts didn't believe in the team - odds on their victory in the tournament in the sum of 150 by Parimatch are enough.
The underdog status helped the North American team to use weak spots of the recently-created teams and to make it to the grand final. It's worth to notice that Demon Slayers were one step away from the triumph and lost the match, winning it with a score 2:0.
The rest of the participants
FlyToMoon, NiP, J.Storm
The rest three participants in the face of J.Storm, NiP, and FlyToMoon performed pretty predictably. The North American team and the CIS mix were not able to achieve a single victory in the playoffs and placed 5th-6th, PPD and the company made it to the third place, having lost to the strong Alliance and unexpected Demon Slayers.
