Team Spirit Defeat Gaimin Gladiators in the Quarterfinals of Dota 2 EWC 2025
In the opening playoff match of the Dota 2 Esports World Cup 2025, Team Spirit claimed a convincing 2-0 victory over Gaimin Gladiators, advancing to the semifinals of the tournament.
The match was played in a best-of-three format, meaning a team needed to win two maps to move forward — a challenge Team Spirit handled with confidence.
The first map turned out to be a close and intense battle, lasting nearly 65 minutes. Despite a questionable hero draft, Gaimin Gladiators had a strong laning phase, outperforming Team Spirit across all lanes. However, as the game transitioned into the midgame, Team Spirit began showcasing excellent team coordination. Yatoro, playing Chaos Knight, once again proved why he is considered one of the best carry players in Dota 2 in recent years. The map ended with a narrow 36-37 win for Team Spirit.
The second map had a quicker pace but fewer kills. Both teams attempted to initiate fights, but played cautiously. Once again, the difference in hero choices — particularly among carry players — stood out. Watson (GG) picked Marci, which didn’t quite fit into the team’s draft, while Yatoro (TS) chose Templar Assassin, a pick that worked perfectly. Team Spirit secured the win with a 21-11 score in a game that lasted nearly 39 minutes.
With this victory, Team Spirit will advance to the semifinals of the Dota 2 EWC 2025 where they will play the winner of the Aurora Gaming vs PARIVISION match.
