Heroic and G2 will meet as part of the IEM Katowice 2023 Grand Finals, where they will determine the best team on the planet for the next few weeks, or even months.
To be frank, the Danish team impressed with its take-off during this championship, because even at BLAST in January it seemed like a frank boot that lost all its skills.
However, here we are dealing with G2, which in its current form will give a light to last year's iteration of FaZe Clan with all the ensuing consequences.
In general, Heroic has already come a long way. And, despite the excellent game, Xizt's wards seem to be a little weaker. To tell the truth, the current game of the Danes strongly reminds me of an attempt to copy the style of G2.
Therefore, here I would look at the banal victory of G2, since in the current meta the team dictates the conditions and looks too strong to lose another final in Katowice.
Form Heroic
The second team of the world ranking played quite well at the group stage of IEM Katowice 2023. Moreover, it was noticeable that the Danish team was gaining from match to match, and if at first they hardly beat Complexity Gaming, then they quite confidently walked through the chances of OG and Vitality.
Moreover, Heroic was clearly preparing for the start of the playoffs, as the team completely read NAVI in the semi-finals and took out the Born to Win feet first.
However, in the grand final, the Danes will have to pass a serious test of their strength, since here the wards of Xizt will meet with the strongest team on the planet at the moment. And most importantly, Heroic is somewhat inferior to G2 in terms of pace and ability to adapt, so it will be very interesting.
Heroic's latest results:
- Victory over BIG with a score of 2:1.
- Victory over Complexity Gaming with a score of 2:1.
- Victory over OG with a score of 2:0.
- Victory over Vitality with a score of 2:0.
- Victory over Natus Vincere with a score of 2:0.
Best Heroic Maps:
- Overpass - 78% of wins.
- Mirage - 78% of wins.
- Vertigo - 71% of wins.
- Ancient - 50% win rate.
It is worth recalling that the Danish team is still refusing the Anubis card.
Form G2
The first team of the world ranking began its impressive rise as early as last year's BLAST Premier World Final 2022, where it was able to swing during the tournament and took a big prize on a sleigh.
Already in the new season, the European team continued to impress at BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023, where they won three devastating victories and rose strongly in the eyes of the fans.
As for the performances at the group stage of IEM Katowice 2023, here G2 continued to demonstrate an incredible game, tearing everyone in its path without a single chance.
Well, in the semi-finals, the team was able to crush Team Liquid in order to increase their unbeaten (winning) streak to eleven matches in a row. Moreover, the guys have not lost cards for nine meetings.
Latest G2 results:
- Victory over Natus Vincere with a score of 2:0.
- Victory over BIG with a score of 2:0.
- Victory over FaZe Clan with a score of 2:0.
- Victory over Natus Vincere with a score of 2:0.
- The victory over Team Liquid with a score of 2:0.
Best G2 Maps:
- Anubis - 100% wins.
- Nuke - 100% win rate.
- Inferno - 90% win rate.
- Mirage - 67% of wins.
Do not forget that the European team consistently refuses one map - Overpass.
Match statistics Heroic — G2
During the last season, the teams held two meetings:
- Heroic's victory at PGL Major Antwerp 2022 with a score of 19:17.
- Heroic's victory at BLAST Premier: Fall Finals 2022 with a score of 2:1.
However, we understand that a lot has changed on the stage since then.
Prediction for the match Heroic — G2
This is probably the best grand final that could be imagined. The two best teams in the world ranking, who proved their worth with their game.
Interestingly, Heroic and G2 are quite similar in their current form, but at the same time they differ in their approach to business. However, in a simple comparison, NiKo and company seem to be much stronger, and if these guys are catching the wave, they can't be stopped.
As for maps, it will be incredibly difficult for the Danish team here. First of all, there is clearly nothing for him to catch on Ancient, and on Inferno, Xizt's wards are only gaining momentum.
In other aspects, I see no reason why G2 can lose this meeting. Still, in its current form, the team shows a too flawless game, with which they take everyone forward with their feet.
Therefore, in this case, I would recommend betting on the victory of the G2 team.
