Welcome to EGamersWorld.
We continue to watch the action at PGL Bucharest 2025. The play-offs are in full swing, with the first round of play-offs taking place today.
Closing the first round of play-offs will be G2 and Vp. The format of the encounter, as before, is bo3.
Let's see who from the pair G2 - Vp will be stronger and qualify for the semifinals, and who will have to say goodbye to the prospects of playing further.
Let's go.
G2 Esports uniforms
Let's open the G2 Esports vs Vp match with an analysis of G2's form. In this match, they are playing as favourites with odds to win at around 1.3.
Their rise as a top team started with BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023 and IEM Katowice 2023. Both G2 championships went confidently and at two tournaments they were deservedly crowned champions.
Next, the "samurai" were stormy. Last season ESL Pro League Season 17 G2 Esports finished on the 9-12 line, which is clearly not the level of the team that recently won Katowice 2023.
After a frankly weak performance at EPL Season 17 G2 Esports played at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. In Paris, NiKo and company had a real fiasco, as the tournament for them ended at the TOP-14 stage, which certainly did not fit into G2's plans.
- G2 Esports line-up: huNter, HeavyGod, m0NESY, malbsMd, Snax.
Before ESL Pro League Season 18, G2 Esports made their mark on several other major tournaments. These were BLAST Premier: Spring Finals and Fall Groups, where G2 took top 4 and top 8 respectively.
Next up was IEM Cologne 2023 and finally a win. In the Grand Final they beat ENCE 3-1, thus taking another IEM title for the year.
The last championship was Gamers8. The biggest commercial tournament of the season ended with G2 Esports in the top 4.
G2 Esports started off ESL Pro League Season 18 with a betting tirerable win. They beat Lynn Vision 2-0 in their opening match, but to be fair, they were close to a fiasco on the first map. However, G2 Esports subsequently made it to the play-offs, and straight into the quarter-finals, where they met MOUZ. The Mice outplayed G2 Esports and later became EPL S18 champions.
G2 Esports attended two more events before competing at BLAST Premier: World Finals 2023. These were BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023 and IEM Sydney 2023. Both tournaments saw the team finish in the Top 4 stage. There was also CCT Online Finals #5, where G2 showed a frankly mediocre result. The titular European club failed to make it to the Top 2 and get a slot to the Global Finals, and settled for only Top 4.
Prior to the PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Europe RMR G2 Esports played at three top tournaments before the Long Convergence PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Europe RMR G2 Esports. BLAST Premier: World Final 2023, BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 and IEM Katowice 2024 and they finished in the top 6. Looks good, but it's still not the same for the G2 Esports level.
Then PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR A G2 Esports played at their level. The level that you expect from them, i.e. Top 2 and a slot in the Copenhagen CS2 Major Legends.
Later G2 Esports played at the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen, where they managed to reach the play-offs and at the end of the championship took the top 4. In the semi-finals they lost to future champions NaVi.
G2 Esports played at IEM China 2024, where the "samurai" managed to reach the TOP-4. Later they played at ESL Pro League Season 19, where they reached TOP-8, Ledgeiv to the future champions from MOUZ.
G2 Esports attended IEM Dallas 2024, where they managed to snatch a win with a 2-1 win over Vitality in the grand finals. They also played BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, where they finished in the top 8.
Esports World Cup 2024 G2 Esports started off with a solid win over MongolZ, even though the latter struggled. Next was a match against Team Spirit, which the Samurai won again, beating one of the strongest teams in the world with a score of 2-1. Later G2 defeated Vp, but in the grand finals Ledge and NaVi with the score 1-2.
Further G2 Esports played almost all top tournaments on Counter-Strike 2. They played at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024, where they finished in TOP 1-4, as well as at IEM Cologne 2024, where they finished in TOP 6.
At ESL Pro League Season 20, the team won Group B, beating KOI, 3DMAX and MIBR. In the play-offs, they went straight to the quarter-finals, where they defeated Liquid. However, G2's path was interrupted at the TOP-4 stage: they defeated NaVi, who later became the tournament champions.
A little later, G2 managed to get revenge on NaVi by defeating Born to Win in the grand finals of BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2024. However, it was not possible to translate the victories at the autumn finals into a winning streak, because at the IEM Rio Masters 2024 G2 Esports took the TOP-13-16.
However, G2 Esports went on to play at BLAST Premier: World Final 2024, where they triumphed, winning another trophy at the BLAST Championship Series. In the final, they stomped Spirit by a score of 3-0.
The way to the Major at G2 Esports Long started with a victory over NiP. Then they beat 9 Pandas without any problems. But in the match for the Major with a score of 3-0, G2 Esports sensationally lost to 3DMax, although later they took the series against Spirit and went to the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 with a score of 3-1.
Elimination Stage PW Shanghai Major 2024 Long started with a loss to MongolZ, but then defeated BIG and 3DMax. In the play-offs, G2 Esports defeated FaZe Clan. Heroic beat Heroic in the first round of the play-offs, but then Ledge beat FaZe, leaving the tournament in the top 4.
In the 2025 season, G2 Esports attended BLAST Bounty Spring 2025, where they again finished in the top 4, again losing to FaZe. They also attended IEM Katowice 2025, where they finished in the top 4.
At the ESL Pro League Season 21 Long Long Sogpeg started with a win against paiN. Then lost to MongolZ, but then beat sAw. Lost to NaVi and beat GamerLegion in the play-offs. But in the first round of the main grid G2 Esports lost to MOUZ and left the tournament on top 8.
BLAST Open Lisbon 2025 G2 Esports started with a match against Imperial Esports, where they won 2-0. In the play-offs match, they lost against Eternal Fire with a score of 0-2. In the play-offs they went through the bottom grid of Group B, but in the first round Ledge and MOUZ with a score 0-2, thus ending their journey through BLAST Open Lisbon 2025 on the top 6.
At PGL Bucharest 2025, G2 Esports went 3-0 in the group stage.
G2 Esports Mapple

Vp Form
We continue the review of the match Vp - G2 with the analysis of Vp's form. In this match they play as an outsider with odds to win around 3.1.
At the beginning of the year before last, Vp played in three TIR-A tournaments. These were BB Playlist. Urbanistic, BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR A, and also BB Playlist. Freeddom. At the two "home" championships from BB Vp were in the top 8, but at the European RMR everything was even less happy - top 14.
Then Vp made a breakthrough by winning at ESL Challenger Katowice 2023. The victory there allowed them to qualify for ESL Pro League Season 18.
Among the victories, CCT Online Finals #2 is also worth mentioning. They beat Team Spirit in the grand finals and earned $100,000, which is pretty good.
- Vp lineup: FL1T, fame, electroNic, FL4MUS, ICY.
Before ESL Pro League Season 18 Vp visited Gamers8, where they didn't get further than the top 8, and Dunav Party LAN, where in the grand finals they got revenge for their defeat on CCT by Spirit.
In the first match at EPL Season 18, Vp's opponent was Team Liquid. The match, as expected, ended in a full-fledged, combative Bo3 with Vp winning 2-1.
Next up, VP played G2 Esports and legitimately Ledgeili, though they fought back and took the map. The defeat sent Vp to the lower grid, where they first beat Eternal Fire and then outplayed Liquid again, thus reaching the EPL play-offs.
Vp did not manage to play in the main stage. Vp lost their first match against 9z Team, which was a rather unexpected result. At the end of the EPL S18 Vp finished in the top 16.
Things are going well at the Roobet Cup. Vp won the first match against their compatriots from Spirit with a score of 2-1. Next up was a battle with Movistar Riders to qualify for the Roobet Cup 2023 play-offs, which ended 2-0 in favour of Vp, a solid 2-0.
The Roobet Cup 2023 itself was the pulse of Vp's triumph. They beat Monte 2-1 in the grand final, earning their first major win in a long time. Later was Thunderpick World Championship 2023, where Vp also reached the final, but failed to beat FaZe and as a result - 0-2.
Before playing at BB Dacha Vp played at ESL Challenger Winter. There they reached the top 4, losing in the semi-finals to the future champions from Monte. BB Dacha itself was a very successful event for Vp: there they reached the finals and lost to Spirit 2-3 in a close series.
Just before the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024, where Vp were partnered with BLAST, they played the ESL Challenger at DreamHack Atlanta 2023, where they won the championship, beating Apeks 2-0 in the grand finals.
On their way to the Group D finals, Virtus.pro defeated BIG and Cloud9. The former with a 2-0 score, the latter with a 2-1 score. In the grand final of their group at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024, Vp beat BIG again and again with a score of 2-0, thus earning themselves a place at the spring finals. Next up was IEM Katowice 2024, where Vp failed, finishing in the top 20.
Vp made it to PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen, finishing in the top 2 at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR A. In addition, they made it to IEM Dallas 2024.
Directly at the World Championship Long Competed from the Elimination stage. First lost to Imperia, but then beat paiN and Heroic, which brought them to 2-1. Next, they lost to Eternal Fire and G2 Esports, which led to Vp's elimination from the Major tournament.
IEM China 2024 Vp are doing quite well. In the top set of Group B, they took turns beating American teams Wildcard (13-1) and then FlyQuest (2-1). In the play-offs seeding match, Vp lost to the best team in the tournament, Astralis, 2-0.
In the main stage of IEM China 2024, Vp played against G2 Esports and lost, thus finishing in the top 6 of the tournament.
After the top 6 at IEM China 2024 Vp attended three more tournaments, two of which were very prestigious. Thus they played ESL Pro League Season 19 at TOP-8 and IEM Dallas 2024 at TOP-12, and in between they made it to the Top-6 at BB Dacha.
In Group B at BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2024 Vp played to a top-3 finish, which got them into the playoffs. Next, they made it to the top 4, but there Ledgeili NaVi.
EWC Vp started with a match against Complexity Gaming, where they won 2-0. Making it to the play-offs the team faced Vitality and came out stronger, winning 2-1. Next up was a match against G2, a loss and top 4 in the end.
Vp played at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024, where they failed miserably: top 16. Later, they "consolidated their success" at IEM Cologne 2024, making it to the Top 16. They also played at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024, where they took TOP-4. Played at ESL Pro League S20, where they failed everywhere and everywhere, finishing the tournament in the top 16. They also played at the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024, where they finished in the top 6.
At the Thunderpick World Championship 2024, OG Long Sogpeg were defeated by OG and then knocked out of the tournament by Falcons. However, OG went on to get revenge and knocked Vp out of the tournament. At the end of Thunderpick World Championship 2024, Vp finished in the top 12.
Vp made it to PW Shanghai Major 2024 through PW Shanghai Major 2024: European RMR B, winning it 3-1. However, the tournament itself failed miserably, finishing in the top-24.
They started the 2025 season with a performance at BLAST Bounty Season 1, where they lost in the first round. Then - IEM Katowice 2025 and Long Corner at Play-In: loss from paiN with a crushing score (7-13) and (2-13), but comeback in the lower net and victory over sAw and MIBR. In the group stage, Vp played more collected, which led to a deserved result. After beating G2 and Eternal Fire, they got into the play-offs. However, they lacked a little bit to reach the semi-finals, namely the victory over Vitality. In the first round of play-offs they ran into Spirit and lost 0-2, leaving the tournament at the TOP-8 stage.
PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 Long started with a 1-2 defeat against 3DMax. Then they defeated Wildcard and Complexity, but Ledge defeated paiN and MOUZ. As a result, Vp did not qualify for the group stage.
At BLAST Open Lisbon 2025 Vp Long started with an unexpected victory against FaZe (2-1). But they also unexpectedly failed to defeat Vitality: 0-2. In the lower net Vp beat Falcons (2-1). And in the match for the play-offs Ledge and Spirit with the score 0-2, thus leaving the tournament at the stage of TOP-8.
At PGL Bucharest 2025, Vp Long started with a surprising defeat against Rare Atom, but then beat Liquid and then beat FURIA. In the basket match 2-1 Ledgeili GL and then knocked Astralis out of the tournament.
Mapple Vp.

In the pool there is a good Anubis (3-1 on maps), Mirage (6 wins in 9 matches) and Inferno (7 wins in 11 games).
The worst choice for vp is Vertigo. It has 44% wins with 9 matches.
History of head-to-head meetings between Vp and Astralis
The teams have played each other three times in the last year. G2 have won 2 matches.
Predicted result of Astralis - Vp at PGL Bucharest 2025
In this match my bet is on G2. Despite the massive substitutions in the squad and the early departure of m0Nesy, they are still hungry for wins.
Bottom line: G2 win.
