BIG won EU Minor Championship 2017 — Krakow

The European mix could achieve victory at a Minor tournament from PGL and won the main money prize in the sum of $30,000.

8 participants from Europe divided the general prize pool in the sum of $50,000. The money prizes were earned by teams, which had held the 1st-3rd places. Besides the money, teams received an invitation to the closed qualification to PGL Major Krakow 2017.

The following teams have taken part in EU Minor Championship 2017:

Team EnVyUs
PENTA Sports
Team BIG
iGame.com
Team LDLC.com
Ballistix
Team Dignitas
Team Kinguin

EU Minor was carried out in two stages: a group stage and a playoff. The group stage was hosted in a GSL system with best-of-three matches. The playoff was carried out in a Double Elimination bracket with matches in a Bo3 format.

The champions of the tournament beat Team EnVyUs, Team Dignitas and PENTA Sports on their way. It is worth to notice that Team BIG had participated at their best during the group stage and started their way in the upper bracket. However, after the first unsuccessful match against Team Dignitas, Europeans had to fight their way to the victory in the lower bracket. BIG faced with Team Dignitas again in the second round and won the rematch.

The distribution of the prize pool:

1st place — Team BIG — $30,000 and a slot at the closed qualification to PGL Major Krakow 2017
2nd place — PENTA Sports — $15,000 and a slot at the closed qualification to PGL Major Krakow 2017
3rd place — Team Dignitas — $5,000 and a slot at the closed qualification to PGL Major Krakow 2017

Let’s remind that the European Minor tournament has become the only regional Minor tournament, in which not 2 slots but 3 slots at the closed qualification to PGL Major Krakow 2017 were up for grabs. This happened because three players of Team EnVyUs had moved under the colors of G2 Esports during the big transfer between three French teams. In such a way players of G2 held the place of Team EnVyUs and a slot at the closed qualification was given to EU Minor Championship 2017 — Krakow.
