FaZe Forfeit ESL Pro League S22 Match Against G2
Today, October 4, the ESL Pro League Season 22 match between FaZe Clan and G2 Esports was scheduled to take place at 19:00, but the game will not happen — FaZe have received a technical loss as their lineup does not comply with ESL’s “team core” rule.
FaZe Receive a Technical Defeat
FaZe failed to field at least three players from the roster that received the original ESL Pro League Season 22 invitation. According to the tournament regulations, a lineup must include at least three members from the “original five”; otherwise, the match is counted as a technical forfeit.
Currently, FaZe’s active roster consists of broky, karrigan, frozen, jcobbb, and Twistzz, but only two of them were part of the invited lineup. Because of this, FaZe were handed a technical defeat in their match against G2, and their opponents automatically advanced further in the tournament bracket.
It is expected that FaZe will try to resolve the roster issue soon. Reportedly, rain — who was recently benched — could return to the lineup, or possibly s1mple, who currently plays for BC.Game but previously represented FaZe at IEM Dallas and the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.
Possible Consequences for FaZe
If FaZe are unable to resolve their roster situation in the near future, the team may face further complications in ESL Pro League Season 22. According to ESL’s general rules, continued failure to meet roster requirements could affect their participation in future matches or their overall standing in the tournament.
At the moment, FaZe hold a 0–1 record in the main stage following the technical loss to G2. Whether the team can adjust their lineup in time for the next match remains uncertain, and their future in the tournament now depends on how quickly the situation is resolved.
