MOUZ Survive Legacy to Reach Playoffs
MOUZ closed the Swiss phase of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 by outlasting Legacy in a three‑map elimination series, 2‑1. The European side entered the day at 2‑2 and required a win to stay in the tournament, while the Brazilian roster aimed to complete an unexpected run to the playoffs.
Legacy struck first on Ancient, racing to a 10‑2 lead on the defence before sealing the opener 13‑4. n1ssim’s rifle work set the tone with 86.2 ADR and a +16 differential across the match; it was his career best LAN map. MOUZ responded on Inferno, where Jimpphat and Brollan stabilised late rounds to edge the map 13‑11 and push the series to a decider.
The Brazilians announced themselves impressively, put on a show by winning a map and placing MOUZ under colossal pressure, yet they could not prevent the favourites from reaching the Major playoffs. A victory for a team not expected at this Major would have produced a huge upset, but their defeat felt organic; attention therefore shifts to the individually average performance from MOUZ players, particularly torzsi on the first two maps.
Considering the shaky MOUZ, Legacy truly had a chance. They are motivated and strong, but not experienced as a LAN team. When MOUZ began their comeback on the third map, the Brazilians lacked the self‑control to make the right decisions and to maintain their sharp aim. Under stress, the more experienced side wins.
Nuke decided the outcome. Legacy started 9‑3 on the CT side, but MOUZ strung together ten of the next eleven rounds after the switch, completing the comeback 13‑10. xertioN’s late‑half entries broke open outside control, while Spinx anchored lower site retakes to close the series.
Despite the result, Legacy’s trio of n1ssim, dumau and latto each exceeded a 1.20 rating, underscoring the competitive nature of the match. MOUZ’s overall numbers were modest; torzsi finished at 0.71, reflecting early struggles that nearly cost the favourites their place.
MOUZ advance to the quarter‑finals, which start on June 19. Legacy exit the event with a 2‑3 record, having pushed a top‑seeded opponent to the limit. Comprehensive bracket updates and further match coverage continue under Austin Major results: Stage 3.
