The current version of Counter-Strike at the moment is CS: GO, which was released on August 21, 2012. Recall that last year Valve released a patch dedicated to the anniversary of the game. Then the discipline developers decided to return the players to the good old days when they played Dust 2 in CS 1.6. In this regard, the old version of the Dust 2 card from CS 1.6 was put into normal mode and a few days later it was removed.
This year, Valve decided to refrain from such Easter eggs and did not release any updates.
Until December 2018, CS: GO was paid, but in the last month of this year, the game received a free-to-play model. Since then, to gain access to ranked matches, players need to acquire prime status or earn money by playing CS: GO for a long time.
