Outsiders becomes the winner of IEM Rio Major 2022
The main championship of the autumn part of the season - IEM Rio Major 2022 - has ended. As part of the tournament, which was held from October 31 to November 13 in Rio de Janeiro at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro conference center, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, Asia, North and South America fought for a total prize pool of $1,250,000, ranking points for the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023. The winner of the tournament was the Outsiders team, which in the grand final was stronger than the Danes from Heroic with a score of 2:0 (Mirage - 16:12; Overpass - 16:5).
The Outsiders team started their journey in Brazil from the Challengers stage, starting from the Contenders basket. Here, the team first lost to MOUZ (6:16), but then got three wins over IHC Esports (16:12), Team Vitality (16:12) and fnatic (2:0), making it to the Legends stage.
In "Legends" dastan's wards again started with a defeat, this time losing to Heroic (9:16). But again, the team showed character to beat Ninjas in Pajamas (16:12), Team Spirit (16:14) and MOUZ (2:0), and then get into the playoffs. Here, Outsiders first beat fnatic (2:0), and then beat MOUZ (2:1) and made it to the grand final.
The Grand Final kicked off on Mirage, the Outsiders' pick. But if the starting advantage went into the treasury of the Danes, then dastan's wards joined the game, having managed to get the minimum advantage at the end of the half — 8:7. After switching sides, the Outsiders quickly went into the lead. While Heroic tried to get back into the game, the Russian team did not let the opponent in and took the lead in the series — 16:12.
Next, the teams moved to the Overpass map, which turned out to be the choice of Heroic. Here the Danes again started with minimal superiority, but after that, dastan's wards again found their game and ran ahead. As a result, Heroic's players lost their morale, allowing the opponent to dispose of the advantage and get a great advantage — 12:3. After the change of sides, the Danes did not recover, while the Outsiders got the necessary rounds in the class to become the champion of IEM Rio Major 2022 - 16:5.
