Summing up the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 Challengers Stage

The PGL Major Stockholm 2021 Challengers Stage has come to an end, as a result of which some teams have already said goodbye to Stockholm, while eight teams have advanced to the Legends stage. This can only mean one thing - the time has come to sum up the results of the first stage of the championship and make intermediate conclusions.

What was the Challengers stage remembered for?

Even before the start of the championship, many fans took part in the Pick'Em Challenge. Of course, many have put on an early exit to the next stage of Heroic or Astralis. This is understandable, because the Danes were the main favorites. But to everyone's surprise, these very favorites did their best, taking part in all five rounds, only on the final day earning an exit to the next stage.

And if the failure of Heroic can still be linked by a logical chain, then the global swim of Astralis on the first game day defies comparison. Fortunately, the stellar team got together and made a difficult comeback, still not allowing the main sensation.

At the same time, for FaZe Clan and Copenhagen Flames, this stage ended rather quickly, as both teams showed a desire to win and, most importantly, their character.

The main losers of the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 Challengers Stage were Sharks and GODSENT, who failed to cope with their rivals in three rounds, leaving Stockholm first. They were followed by TYLOO and paiN. And if it is difficult to present anything to the Chinese team, then the Brazilians walked by a thread in every match, over and over again having a chance to win.

Did not meet the expectations of the Spirit and BIG teams. Moreover, the start of the championship among the teams was a success, since they went to the fourth round with a decent result. However, failure in the final two rounds sealed the fate of the teams that ran out of space in the Legends stage.

A surprise for many was the Entropiq team, which, having lost in the opening round to BIG, unexpectedly for many closed Astralis, Movistar Riders and Heroic, simultaneously demonstrating the ability to adapt to the situation.
