Sony opens the PlayStation 5 lucky bag
Yuriy SheremetThe time will come in around three weeks. Then the PlayStation 5 will be officially released. In the meantime, the first test devices have already arrived in the editorial offices, giving the media the opportunity to extensively test the next-gen console. But not only journalists and gamers are eagerly awaiting Sony's new flagship, e-sports professionals are also excited to see what the PlayStation 5 has to offer.
With the launch, Sony is adding new capital to the history of esports. After all, gaming has left the living room of this world and has become a profession for the best in their field. For a long time, many people did not take this industry seriously, but it has long since grown up. E-sports relies on countless viewers from all over the world and numerous fans who are ready to travel far. The most-watched e-sports tournament of all time recorded 46 million fans. Experience has shown that professional gamers quickly exhaust the storage space of the consoles.
For example, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare together with Warzone already requires around 200 gigabytes of space. Players can now install a PCI-E 4.0 compatible hard drive in the PlayStation 5. Sony is yet to announce which hard drives are qualified for this. The new high-end console is also not cooled with air or water, but with liquid metal. This should enable significantly better performance.
The test consoles already offer a good first glimpse into the PlayStation 5. That is to be taken literally, because the testers lend a hand in every respect. The numerous unboxing videos show what the buyer can expect in the box. First of all, there is the console, which is actually as big as predicted. It's the largest console Sony has ever released. The reason for this dimension is the large radial fan. It cools the mainboard from both sides and should finally make noise problems a thing of the past.

In addition to the console, buyers will of course find a DualSense controller, the HDMI, a USB and the power cable in the packaging. The instructions provide information on how the PlayStation 5 can be brought to life as quickly as possible. If you prefer to place your console upright in the living room in the future, you will also find a stand in the packaging. As Sony recently confirmed, it doesn’t make any difference to the enjoyment of the game whether you place the PlayStation 5 lying down or standing up.
The new remote control is here
Meanwhile, Sony has unveiled the console's official remote control. It has its own buttons for the streaming services. In this way, gamers can not only control Netflix and YouTube, but also Spotify. The design of the remote control is somewhat reminiscent of that of Google's Chromecast. It is kept simple and very minimalist. In addition to a control pad, there are the usual buttons. Gamers can also use it to control the volume of compatible TVs via the built-in IR transmitter. The new remote control will also be released on November 19th. If you believe previous leaks, it will probably cost 49.90 euros.
In addition to Disney +, the part also supports Apple TV and Twitch. The group announced this in a broadcast. Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Peacock and MyCanal are not yet supported. However, these stations are to follow in the future. An upgrade of the streaming can also be found on the new user interface of the PlayStation 5. This will in future have its own section for entertainment apps. This is how Sony is upgrading the streaming services in its ecosystem. Apparently they want to compete with the streaming sticks from Google and Amazon.
The PlayStation 5 will go on sale in Germany on November 19th. It is available in two versions. The standard version with a Blu-ray drive costs 499 euros, the digital edition costs 399 euros. As soon as the official market launch was announced, there was a huge rush for pre-orders from numerous retailers. According to the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, there were as many pre-orders in the first twelve hours as there were for the PlayStation 4 in the first twelve weeks.
It would therefore not be surprising if numerous PlayStation 5 fans were to stand in front of empty shelves in November. Sony still has time to cope with the onslaught. After all, the console is one of the highlights for the Christmas business 2020, which is now slowly rolling in. Microsoft is already launching its new Xbox Series X about a week in advance. It will be interesting to see who can win the sympathy of gamers on their side.
