Guide to Riki 7.31
Yuriy SheremetThe new patch is only gaining momentum, but it is already possible to identify heroes that stand out from the rest with their win rate. One of them is Riki, due to the cheaper cost of Diffusal Blade, the hero has become more active and enters the game faster.
Riki is a very strong carry hero who is able to move around the map unnoticed and deal massive damage from behind.
Advantages and disadvantages
pros
- Good dexterity score
- Variable
- Actual hero throughout the game.
- Suitable for most situations. Especially for an aggressive pick.

Description of abilities
smoke screen
- All effects are provided by the aura. Debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds
- Although the debuff lingers on creatures, its effects will not work on invulnerable targets
- Can be cast during Tricks of the Trade without interruption as long as the selected point is within cast range
- During Tricks of the Trade, the cast animation and residual animation are 0, and the cast does not require turning towards the selected point
- The ability is interrupted, but the effects continue
- Smoke Screen blinding uses a pseudo-random distribution.
Blink Strike
The hero teleports behind the target and, if it is an enemy, deals damage to him.
- When learning Blink Strike, the hero immediately gains all 2 charges
- The bonus damage is not related to Riki's attack and is instantly dealt to the target.
- Always moves Riki behind the target. Cannot avoid projectiles when teleporting
- Riki is ordered to attack the target if it is an enemy. Can be cast on allies without damaging them
- When targeting an enemy, Riki gains a hidden buff
- This buff applies guaranteed Cloak and Dagger back damage to his next attack regardless of the angle Riki is facing the enemy.
- That is, when the target begins to turn around before being hit by Riki's attack, damage from the back will still be applied to the attack
- The buff lasts until an attack is made or 1 second, whichever comes first.
- The buff is applied when the attack starts, not when it hits the target, so canceling or missing the attack cancels the buff.
- The 1 second duration allows Riki to repeatedly use a guaranteed back attack against other creatures instead of the target's Blink Strike if it was fast enough.
- Cannot be used on couriers.
Tricks of the Trade
The hero disappears from our world and periodically backattacks a random enemy creature in the area of effect
- When using Tricks of the Trade, it allows you to avoid projectiles.
- Some items that do not interrupt channeling abilities (like Shadow Blade or Shiva's Guard) will cancel Tricks of the Trade.
- Riki is invulnerable, hidden, and can be passed through by other creatures while Tricks of the Trade is active.
- Causes Riki to instantly attack 1 (with 2 Aghanim) random enemy units in range in 0.67 second intervals. immediately after use, working up to 4 times.
- Instant attacks can be triggered by any attack modifiers (including Cloak and Dagger, which does not take into account the angle of rotation to the target) or on-attack effects (as well as normal attacks). Attacks do not have the True Strike effect, but they ignore disarms.
- Instant attacks do not break stealth from Cloak and Dagger and Smoke of Deceit, although the ability visually goes on cooldown.
- Does not hit invisible units, but does hit units in the Fog of War.
- Tricks of the Trade attack radius visual effects are visible to both allies and enemies
- With Aghanim's Scepter, Trick of the Trade attacks 2 enemies at the same time, making up to 8 attacks at the same interval and for the same duration.
- Can be cast on an allied hero, including illusions and clones, but excluding creep-heroes.
- Riki and all ability effects follow the allied hero. Riki itself remains hidden. That is, Riki's auras spread around the allied hero for the duration of the ability.
- Does not end when the target dies. The ability continues at the location of the ally's death. It remains linked to the ally, so when they are resurrected, the ability will return to them.
Cloak and Dagger
The hero goes into the shadows, becoming invisible. Each attack from behind deals additional damage based on Agility. If you attack an enemy, the invisibility will disappear.
- While invisible, Riki does not automatically attack enemies.
- After being revived or resurrected, Riki instantly becomes invisible.
- Using abilities and items does not break invisibility.
- The ability icon shows the cooldown time each time the hero comes out of invisibility. But the countdown has only a visual purpose.
- Back damage is applied when attacking and finishing off allies.
- The extra damage is dealt along with the attack damage and counts as attack damage.
- The sound effect of the ability plays before the attack starts, but the damage is applied after the hit.
- The bonus movement speed talent only works while invisible, when the ability is not on cooldown.
Sleeping Dart (Requires Aghanim's Shard to unlock)
- The projectile flies at a speed of 1600.
- The target will wake up after taking 200 damage. The counter starts counting damage during the sleep duration. Considers damage after all reductions.
- The damage and slow are applied after the sleep debuff is lost, the duration expires, or the damage threshold is exceeded. The debuff first applies the movement speed slow, then deals damage.
Leveling abilities
In the first minutes of the game, our main ability is the jump, with which we can slow down enemies or dodge attacks. Some do not take the first skill until the rest are pumped, but it’s still worth taking it for 1 time.
Talents
The talents on Riki are very versatile, a lot depends on your build and farm. You can choose the best build for yourself after several games on the hero, but sometimes you should start from the enemy pick.
Items
Duffusal Blade Change:
- Recipe changed. Crafting now requires Blade of Alacrity, Robe of the Magi, and a 1050 gold recipe (total cost decreased from 3150 gold to 2500 gold).
- Agility bonus reduced from 24 to 15
- Intelligence bonus reduced from 12 to 10
- Manabreak melee illusion mana burn reduced from 12 to 8
Assemblies:
Aggressive build with which you need to quickly enter the game. When buying the first artifacts, it is worth walking with a team and looking for fights or single targets. With this build, the hero has a lot of stats in the early stages of the game and this allows you to kill many heroes.
A more greedy build, since it is not always possible to farm a fast bf, and if the timings are too bad, then the hero becomes useless.
Option for a complex line. The main advantage of this assembly is mobility and the ability to use Meteor Hammer from invisibility.
Gameplay
At about 6-7 levels, you can try to gank one of the lanes using a teleporter. First you kill the creeps in the lane, then retreat into the fog of war\and use the teleport to the tower in the lane where you can make a successful gank. If enemy supports start actively buying Sentry Wards, it's best to forget about solo ganks for a while. After some time, the installed wards will disappear, but you will not become a victim of your own greed.
Ricky's pick forces enemy supports to change their gameplay and constantly worry about their vision against you, which makes it much more difficult for them to play, especially at low ratings.
When attacking, first jump on the enemy with Blink Strike, then throw a Smoke Screen at the enemy's feet and immediately use Diffusal Blade. In this case, the enemy will practically not be able to do anything to you. You can reset your dust with the help of Manta Style, don't forget about it. Ricky is a very strong character, as long as you play more or less aggressively and not just passively farm. If everything is done correctly, then by the middle of the game you can safely take the initiative into your own hands and completely control the situation on the entire map. If you play more passively, then in the end, the enemy carry hero will collect artifacts faster and will have a clear advantage due to this.
