VCT 2025: EMEA Stage 2 — Team Liquid Defeat GIANTX in Upper Bracket Semifinals
On August 22, as part of VCT 2025: EMEA Stage 2, an exciting upper bracket semifinal took place between Team Liquid and GIANTX. The series was played in a Bo3 format and ended with a 2:1 victory for Team Liquid, securing their spot in the upper bracket final. The match lasted 1 hour and 41 minutes and provided fans with plenty of intense moments.
Map 1 — Sunset (13:4 for Team Liquid)
The opening map was a complete showcase of Team Liquid ’s strength. The team dominated on both sides of the map, quickly taking control and winning rounds decisively. Excellent coordination, aggressive strategies, and timely trades allowed them to close the map 13:4. GIANTX struggled to adapt to Liquid’s pace, giving Team Liquid an early advantage.
Map 2 — Corrode (11:13 for GIANTX)
On the second map, GIANTX showed strong adaptation to their opponent’s style. The team successfully countered Team Liquid’s strategies and managed to steal the victory in a close contest. Despite Liquid’s efforts, GIANTX maintained focus in key rounds and closed the map 13:11, keeping the series competitive.
Map 3 — Ascent (14:12 for Team Liquid)
The third map turned into a real test for both teams. The game saw constant lead changes, with each round being hard-fought. In the decisive moments, Team Liquid remained calm, executed their strategies effectively, and closed the map 14:12, securing the series 2:1.
Team Liquid demonstrated a high level of play, handling pressure confidently and taking the lead in key moments. Their upper bracket semifinal victory secures a place in the VCT 2025: EMEA Stage 2 Upper Bracket Final.
GIANTX now moves to the lower bracket, where they must fix mistakes and show more consistency to keep their hopes of reaching the grand final alive.
VCT 2025: EMEA Stage 2 is an S-tier offline tournament organized by Riot Games, held in Berlin from July 16 to August 31, 2025. It features twelve EMEA teams, a Bo3 group stage, and a double-elimination playoff bracket, with the top two teams securing a spot at Valorant Champions 2025 in Paris.
