VCT 2023 regional leagues - what the viewer needs to know

The VCT regional leagues in Europe, the Americas and Asia are about to begin. Thirty partner clubs will compete over the next two months for tickets to the Masters in Japan and the VALORANT Champions 2023, to be held in Los Angeles. Indeed, this is a landmark event for a discipline that has undergone tremendous changes since the new season. In the following article we'll take a look at what the regional leagues have in store for us and also go over the latest changes that have taken place since LOCK//IN.

Asia will be the first team to get in action, as they kick off their regular season schedule on March 25. Ten teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine the six participants in the playoffs. In the play-offs, the teams will fight for entries to the big LAN tournaments, while the remaining ten teams will compete for Last Chance Qualifiers.

Asian League participants (Seoul, Sangam Colosseum and Jangchung Arena):

  • ZETA DIVISION, T1, Gen.G Esports, DRX, DetonatioN Gaming, Team Secret, Rex Regum Qeon, Paper Rex, Talon Esports and Global Esports.

The latest changes to the line-ups of the announced teams:

  • Gen.G Esports have signed Sylvan and GodDead, parting ways with Secret.
  • something joined Paper Rex.
  • iNTRO became a T1 player, replacing BeomJun; CheongGak became club coach.

Prize allocation:

  • 1st place: $100,000 + trips to Masters and Champions
  • 2nd place: $65,000 + entry to Masters and Champions
  • 3rd place: $40,000 + entry to Masters and Champions
  • 4th place: $25,000 + trip to Last Chance Qualifier
  • 5th place: $15,000 + trip to Last Chance Qualifier
  • 6th place: $5,000 + trip to Last Chance Qualifier
  • 7th-10th place: Last Chance Qualifier ticket

A few days after the start of the Asian competition, Europe will get the first leg of the tournament. On March 27, the competitors will be welcomed to the new venue Messe Berlin Charlottenburg, located in Berlin. The competition format is similar to that proposed for the Asian teams. However, a fourth team in the tournament will also be eligible for the Masters thanks to Fnatic's recent LOCK/IN victory.

European League participants (Berlin, Messe Berlin Charlottenburg):

  • Team Vitality, Karmine Corp, FUT Esports, BBL Esports, Natus Vincere, Fnatic, Team Liquid, KOI, Team Heretics and Giants Gaming.

Prize allocation:

  • 1st place: Masters and Champions vouchers
  • 2nd place: Masters and Champions
  • 3rd place: Masters and Champions vouchers
  • 4th place: Masters and Last Chance Qualifier

The last league championship of the series for the Americas does not start until April 1st. But it boasts the strongest line-up in the history of the series as far as names and merit are concerned. The competition format is similar to that of the European and Asian leagues. However, the American League will offer three slots each for the upcoming Masters and Champions.

Participants in the American League (venue Los Angeles, Riot Games Arena):

  • Sentinels, 100 Thieves, Cloud9, NRG Esports, Evil Geniuses, FURIA, LOUD, MIBR, Leviatán Esports and KRÜ Esports.
