Team Heretics, MIBR and Gen.G Esports say goodbye to VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo

The third gaming day of the Alpha bracket at VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo has ended, as a result of which Team Heretics , MIBR and Gen.G Esports suffered their first defeats and left the competition. In turn, the teams Evil Geniuses, Talon Esports and LOUD managed to go further to form all the pairs of the quarterfinals of their bracket.

Evil Geniuses—Team Heretics

The opening match of the game day began on the Pearl map, which became the choice of the North American team. At the same time, the participants showed an equal game in the first half, having managed to go to the break with an equal score - 6:6. However, after the side switch, the Team Heretics players disappeared from the radar, while Evil Geniuses played flawlessly on defense and took the lead in the series — 13:8.

Next, the teams moved to the map Ascent, which turned out to be the choice of Team Heretics. Here the situation developed in a similar way, since both teams showed a struggle. And yet, "Evil Geniuses" managed to shoot in the end to get a minimal advantage before switching sides - 7:5. However, in the second half, the European team fell out of the server again, while Evil Geniuses gathered in the attack and brought the matter to a victorious end — 13:8.

MIBR - Talon Esports

The next match started on the Haven map, which turned out to be the choice of the Brazilian team. However, the players of Talon Esports very quickly seized the initiative on the server, closing the first half with a twofold advantage - 8:4. After the side switch, MIBR failed to return to the fight, while the Thai team finished the map without any problems and took the lead in the series — 13:8.

Then the teams moved to the Fracture map, which became the choice of Talon Esports. Here the fight turned out to be a little more, because now the Brazilians were able to impose a fight, although they lost the first half with a minimum gap - 7:5. After switching sides, MIBR players continued to impose their pace, however, Talon Esports managed to stop the opponent, and then get the necessary rounds for the final victory — 13:11.

Gen.G Esports-LOUD

The final meeting of the game day started on the Pearl map, which was chosen by the Brazilian team. However, the situation was initially in favor of the Gen.G Esports players, who played well in attack and closed the first half with a minimal advantage — 7:5. However, after the side switch, the South Koreans disappeared from the radar, while the LOUD players showed a lightning attack and quickly took the lead in the series - 13:9.

Next, the teams moved to the Fracture map, which became the choice of Gen.G Esports. Here the Brazilian team continued to bend its line to close the first half with a two-fold advantage - 8:4. However, after switching sides, Gen.G Esports was able to return to the game and made it to overtime. And yet here LOUD surpassed its rival to get the first victory in the championship - 14:12.

VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN São Paulo runs from February 13 to March 4 in Sao Paulo at Ginásio do Ibirapuera. As part of the championship, 32 teams from China, Europe, Asia and America are fighting for a total prize pool of $500,000.
