According to the Dot Esports portal, the Vietnamese GAM Esports team is at risk of missing out on the 2022 World Championship. Three weeks before the start of the event, the players of the team did not receive visas to participate in the championship.

The US Embassy has rejected visa applications from GAM Esports players who qualified for the group stage of the upcoming championship after winning the VCS Summer 2022. Another Vietnamese representative, Saigon Buffalo, will start at the World Championship from the Play-In stage, which will be held in Mexico, but also neighbor in the region is also experiencing problems.

However, GAM Esports still has a chance to reapply for the visa in two weeks. The tournament is getting closer and with Saigon Buffalo also having trouble getting visas to Mexico, the region is in danger of missing out on the World Championship again.

Naz Aletha, head of esports at Riot Games, also responded to the social media posts, stating that his team is "working with government representatives to do everything we can to ensure that GAM Esports participates in the 2022 World Championship." However, there is still a strong possibility that the players' applications will be rejected and both teams will not be able to participate in the main event of the year.

This isn't the first time teams from Vietnam have run into trouble ahead of the League of Legends World Championship. Local clubs have missed several international tournaments in the past two years alone due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2022 World Championship will take place from September 29 to November 5 in Mexico and the United States. The Play-In stage will take place from September 29 to October 4 at the Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico City, and the group stage will take place from October 7-10 and October 13-16 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. As part of the championship, 24 teams from all over the world (excluding the CIS) will compete for a total prize pool of $2,225,000.
