Just yesterday, three minor splits began for our favorite esports discipline League of Legends in Oceania, Japan and Vietnam. Already today, February 12, the CIS region with a Russian server joins them, where the A-tier LoL tournament: LCL Spring 2022 begins. The tournament was organized by Riot Games, GIG.ME, and the total prize pool will be approximately $65,534 USD.

Exactly a month ago, three spring splits started in the largest gaming regions: China with LPL Spring 2022, Korea with LCK Spring 2022 and Europe with LEC Spring 2022. During this time, we have already completed almost 4 gaming weeks.

Prize money

Eight teams from all over the CIS will share the prize fund of 5,000,000₽ RUB (≃ $65,534 USD), and what's more, the winner will have the opportunity to play at an international tournament that will be held between splits.

  • 1st place: 2,000,000₽ and a place at the Mid-Season Invitational 2022.
  • 2nd place: 1,000,000₽.
  • 3rd place: 700,000₽.
  • 4th place: 500,000₽.
  • 5th place: 300,000₽.
  • 6th place: 250,000₽.
  • 7th place: 250,000₽ and a place at the LCL Open Cup Spring 2022.
  • 8th place: place at the LCL Open Cup Spring 2022.

Tournament Rules and Procedure

In this split, we will see the already familiar, traditional group stage: all matches will be in the Bo1 format, and during the groups, each team will play 14 matches, which is slightly less than the standard 18.

The group stage will take 6 in-game weeks and run from February 12 to March 20. Then it's time for the playoffs.

According to the results of the groups: teams from 1st to 5th place will advance to the playoffs. The top 1 team will immediately advance to the final of the upper bracket, the 2nd and 3rd places to the first round of the upper bracket, but the 4th and 5th places will also advance to the first round, but the lower bracket. And the two teams with the least points will leave LCL Spring 2022 and go to an alternative tournament - LCL Open Cup Spring 2022.

In the playoffs, absolutely all matches will be in the Bo5 format. The upper and lower brackets are the classic Double Elimination system.
