Results of the first week of LPL Spring 2022: OMG is on top so far!

Yesterday, January 17, the games of the first week of the split from China ended: LPL Spring 2021. During this period, the teams managed to play as many as 17 matches between themselves. There are favorites and clear outsiders.

And to say that there were no surprises during this time would be literally a lie. After all, as many as 3 teams of nominal "outsider" were able to defeat their rivals, the favorites of the matches. Thus Oh My God, Rare Atom and Bilibili Gaming became the black horses of the first week of the split.

The guys from OMG, who have been sitting at the bottom of the LPL standings for the past three seasons, are suddenly going 3-0 in games for everyone. And if their victories in matches against Anyone's Legend and ThunderTalk Gaming could still be explained, then their victory over iG yesterday was the highlight of the week. By the way, they closed all meetings with a score of 2:0 in games, without giving up a single card. What they will show us next remains to be seen. They do not seem to be stronger than the top teams in the region, but they will definitely make them tense.

In turn, Rare Atom defeated Top Esports on the third day with a devastating score of 2:0, and the day before yesterday, although they could not win, they showed a very worthy game of one of the strongest teams in the tournament represented by LNG, finishing with a score of 1:2. Perhaps we will see them in the top 6, instead of some iG.

Another team from the bottom half of the LPL list is Bilibili Gaming. They played their first match yesterday, defeating opposition favorites Weibo Gaming. And this meeting was the debut of their new roster!

It would be wrong to judge the positions and strengths of the teams only by the results of the first week, because we have 8 more weeks in the group stage. Many of the teams participated in two meetings, some in three, like OMG, and some only in one, like BLG.

However, just like before the start of the spring split, we can safely talk about the teams that seem to be my favorites - EDward Gaming, LNG Esports and FunPlus Phoenix. The strongest teams in China, in which no one doubted. They just proved their strength and most likely we will see them in the top 3 of the standings.

But let's talk about specific players. After all, just half an hour ago, on the official LPL twitter, they published the statistics of all the guys from the split. And, believe me, there is something to be surprised.

"The best player of the week" and at the same time "Discovery of the week" was the top laner Oh My God - shanji. A rather atypical situation when the players of the to-lane become the MVP of the week in principle, and then all the laurels were snatched by a player from the dark horse team of the LPL Spring 2022.

The top 5 players included another OMG player, Creme mid-laner. Two EDG players also got there, which was no surprise to anyone, Viper and Meiko. Last, but not least, was the LNG forester - Tarzan.
