Let us present the history of the Dota 2 subdivision
First Appearance
Chaos Esports Club first appeared in the competitive Dota 2 in August 2015. The debut roster was made up by:
- TC
- Yawar
- BuLba
- Aui_2000
- Biryu
The first test for the fresh team was participation in the qualifiers for Nanyang Dota 2 Championships and ESL One New York. At the quals, the team took second and third places respectively. However, in the first case it was enough to proceed to the main tournament, and the third position at the qualifiers for ESL One New York turned out to be not enough either.
Later they got second place at Elimination Mode, second place at the quals for MLG World Finals and third place at the qualifiers for The Frankfurt Major 2015.
In October 2015, Chaos Esports Club took 7th-8th place at Nanyang Dota 2 Championship. The players managed to rehabilitate after the unsuccessful performance at the qualifiers for The Summit 4. There the team finished first.
After the success at the qualifiers for The Summit 4, Chaos Esports Club had a replacement in the team: Biryu’s position was given to 1437 who also became the captain of the roster.
The updated roster took 7th-8th place at The Summit 4 and 13th-16th place at World Cyber Arena 2015.
2016 and Bloom of Chaos Esports Club
The next year started for Chaos Esports Club with qualifiers for Major tournaments. At first the team took third place at the quals for The Shanghai Major 2016, after that the gamers finished second at the quals for Dota Pit League Season 4.
In the same month Chaos Esports Club took fourth place at Dota 2 Canada Cup – Season 6.
In February, the team started gradual changes in the team. At first, TC’s slot was given to Resolut1on.
The Ukrainian player helped the roster to win BTS Americas #3, take 3rd-4th place at the qualifiers for ESL One Manila Americas, and finish 5th-6th at the qualifiers for EPICENTER.
In March 2016, Chaos Esports Club went through complete restructurizing of the roster: a new team was built around Resolut1on.
The fresh roster that represented Chaos Esports Club was made up by Resolut1on, w33, Moo, Saksa, Misery. The team started with hard training.
The first championship for the renewed roster was their performance at the qualifiers for ESL One Frankfurt 2016. There the team finished 3rd-4th and set out to a streak of successful performances.
Beginning with May 2016, Chaos Esports Club won 4 Major qualifiers: The Manila Major, Nanyang Dota 2 Championships Season 2, The Summit 5, and StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.
In June, the team took part in their first Major tournament. The team took 9th-12th place there.
Even though their performance at the Major could not be treated as successful, their participation in the quals of TI 2016 is much more important. There Chaos Esports Club took second place and advanced to the main tournament of the year.
Before The International, the team had had a series of tournaments where the team took 5th-6th place. Those included Nanyang Dota 2 Championship Season 2, The Summit 5 and StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 2.
In August 2016, Chaos Esports Club took part in The International 2016. The team surprised everyone when they entered the grand final where they got defeated by Wings Gaming.
The loss in the final of TI instigated changes in the roster. The team dismissed Moo, and his slot was given to MoonMeander.
By the end of the year Chaos Esports Club had taken fourth place at Elimination Mode 2.0, 3rd-4th place at The Boston Major 2016 and 3rd-4th place at China Top 2016.
Season 2017-2018 and Beginning of the End
In January 2017, Chaos Esports Club won first place at ESL One Genting 2017. The team seemed to be in perfect shape and second place at TI 2016 seemed to have tempered the gamers. However, positive results got changed by not really successful performances: the team took 7th-8th place at Dota Pit League Season 5, 7th-8th place at StarLadder i-League StarSeries Season 3 and 9-16.
A streak of bad results led to disbanding of the roster and its replacement. Chaos Esports Club signed the roster of Team Onyx which included:
- Mason
- Abed
- BuLba
- DuBu
- DeMoN
The renewed roster performed at The Kiev Major 2017 which resulted in 9th-16th place for the gamers.
After the unsuccessful performance, the team made new alterations in the team: DeMon left the roster and his slot was taken byForev; BuLba swapped his role.
With the renewed roster, Chaos Esports Club took second place at the qualifiers for The International 2017, after that they took 9th-12th place at the tournaments.
It is obvious that this outcome was not acceptable for the vice-champions of the previous year, The team started reshuffles. Forev and DuBu left Chaos Esports Club, and his slots were taken by MoonMeander and MSS.
Till the end of the year the team tried to make it to all possible championships, however, they were never lucky. In December 2017, mason announced disbanding of the roster.
In 2018, Chaos Esports Club tried to return to the Top class with a new roster. It consisted of:
- ritsu
- bryle
- MoonMeander
- Aui_2000
- Stan King
The best result in two months was 7th-8th place at GESG: Indonesia Dota2 Minor.
In April 2018, Chaos Esports Club disbanded their Dota 2 roster.
They returned again in January 2019 with a debut at The Chongqing Major. Then the roster included former members of paiN:
- hFn
- w33
- tavo
- Kingrd
- MISERY
At The Chongqing Major the team took 9th-12th place. Later the roster finished 7th-8th at ESL One Katowice 2019 and 9th-12th at DreamLeague Season 11.
In May, the team failed MDL Disneyland Paris Major, after that they faced changes in the roster: at first the team dismissed w33, and later tavo and Kingrd left the team as well. The slots of the former members were taken by Gunnar, KheZu and MILAN.
In June the team welcomed the champion of TI 2017 Matumbaman
The team managed to pass to The International 2019, however, at the championship the team took 17th-18th place which could hardly be considered as a good result.
After TI9 the team went through new changes. The roster was completely modified and then it was made up by YawaR, Quinn, SabeRLight-, MSS, SVG.
This roster managed to take second place at DOTA Summit 11. Later SabeRLight-’s vacant position was given to DM.
In December 2019, the team won the qualifiers for DreamLeague Season 13.
At the tournament in January 2020, the team took 13th-16th place, so DM was replaced by Biver. The new player did not help Chaos Esports Club to get a chance to take part in ESL One Los Angeles 2020.
In March 2020, Chaos Esports Club disbanded their Dota 2 roster.
