Valve has made changes to the prize pool distribution for The International 12

Valve has announced changes to the prize pool distribution for The International 2023 in Dota 2. In comparison to the previous year, the percentage of winnings for teams finishing in 2nd to 6th place has significantly decreased. These funds have been reallocated in favor of teams that exit the tournament after the group stage. In the previous championship, each of these teams earned 0.25% of the total prize pool, but in the new format, they will receive four times more.

At the time of this announcement, the prize pool for TI12 exceeds just over $3 million. This increase in the prize pool is attributed to sales of the in-game compendium. In the previous year's Dota 2 world championship, participants competed for a total prize pool of $18.9 million.
