Beyond The Summit hold a session of Ask Me Anything on the forum Reddit where users could ask the talents their questions according to the tournaments.

We’ve chosen for you several questions and answers. The full version can be found here.

Q: Will there be a showmatch? I want to see bardolph and seangares play some cs

A: Not sure if we have room for one in the schedule! We're talking about it though.

Q: Following last year's amazing success of a tournament, you guys stood out to be my favourite CS event ever. Will this year's tournament follow the same format, or will there be extras added into the mix like some of the events you hold for other eSports?

A: We understand that the extra stuff we do for Dota and Smash etc are fun but since this is only the second iteration of the csgo event, we won't experiment much and focus mainly on what we know people are tuning in for: relaxed atmosphere, cs matches, and players commentating. Once we get to cs_summit 3 4 5 (fingers crossed) then we can go outside the box some more. A lot goes into making the environment comfortable for players so they are in the mood to have fun on the couch.

Q: in terms of revenue, was the last cs_summit a success? highly, or somewhat profitable? I'm curious because there's no crowd revenue, just sponsorships etc, but also no cost to rent a large venue.

A: We consider the last event a huge success. Financially, I believe it was technically a bit of a loss for us, but we expected that, as it was our first entry into CS:GO. The community reception was awesome, and the viewership was great, which ultimately is what counts most in the long-run for us when evaluating whether to bring an event back or not.

Q: Were Steel/YNK offered to join it? I loved both of them last time, especially Steel due to the PSA and the banter back and forth

A: We did invite YnK back, but he wasn't able to make it. We didn't end up inviting Steel this time, even though we really enjoyed him last time.

For Summits we usually try to get a mix of familiar faces and new talent / personalities, and we rarely aim to bring the same exact group back twice. We think it keeps the format fresher overall to mix it up a bit.

Q: What's the Format?

A: Double Elimination

Q: Will it be held in the same house as the last Summit?

A: Same house as last cs summit, yeah!

Q: If Valve change the map pool before the event, are you going to play with the new or old maps?

A: Last event they released the new cobble in the middle of a tournament match. We ended up just using the new map.

As I understand it, it's quite hard to use the old ones since the patch automatically overwrites them and you have to roll the old one out manually to all the player PCs + servers, so I imagine we'd probably end up using the new one again.

Q: You should reach out to shroud to see if he'd hop on the couch for a game or two, I wouldn't be surprised if he brought some viewers too ;)

A: We did invite him to come stop by as a guest! You never know :)

Q: Have you guys tried to get summit1g for a guest appearance? That'd be pretty nice touch for such a chill event. BTW love the summit series in every game!

A: We did try last event and offered to pay his trip + give him a streaming setup at the house.

We'd love to have him out, but he has an incredibly successful streaming career already and wants to focus on that, which is completely understandable.

Q: Out of all the new teams, who are you looking forward to seeing/working with the most?

A: Personally, I really enjoyed Vega's games at the Major, so I'd have to say them. Always love a good scrappy underdog story…

Q: Dont know if it is allowed, but can you name casters/personalities who you asked to work on cs_summit, but they declined?

A: We did address this question with a few of the other names who came up, but I don't think it's fair to the other talent to start listing out the names of everybody we contacted.

Suffice it to say we always talk to a variety of talent when we're hiring for our events, and quite a few of them don't end up working the event for various different reasons!

Q: Will you be doing interviews?

A: I personally won't be but we may have a group interview with some of the players like last time.
