WePlay Academy League: mouz NXT, Young Ninjas and BIG Academy entered the playoffs
Ihor MatusThe penultimate day of the group stage has come to an end. Based on its results, we found out which teams became the first participants in the final stage of WePlay Academy League Season 1. The winners in yesterday's fights were such teams as Fnatic Rising, Young Ninjas, BIG Academy and mouz NXT. The losers, in turn, were NAVI Junior, FURIA Academy, VP.Prodigy and Astralis Talent.
How did everything go?
In the first confrontation, NAVI Junior and Fnatic Rising fought against each other. The debut match made it clear that the game day promised to be interesting and from the very first meeting the audience received a solid dose of euphoria thanks to the intrigues and passions that accompanied the fight with Natus Vincere Junior and Fnatic Rising. The teams decided that Vertgo is a great map in which to compete with each other. The first half was in maximum balance. NAVI Junior started on the defensive side and managed to successfully repel 7 enemy attacks. After the score 7-8, the tendency to play on a level basis continued with the transition of the sides. Fnatic Rising, just like Natus Vincere Junior, managed to defeat their rivals seven times, playing in defense. Because of this, the teams had to resort to using a series of additional rounds. In the first half of overtimes, Fnatic Rising took all three rounds out of three possible. After the transition, NAVI Junior started with one taken round and, it would seem, the fans of "Born to Win" have hope for a comeback. however, the Europeans quickly thwarted this attempt at a return to the game. As a result, the meeting ended with a score of 19-16 in favor of Fnatic Rising.
In the second confrontation, the Young Ninjas came face to face with FURIA Academy. The Swedes and Brazilians decided to test each other for strength on the Overpass map. FURIA Academy, perhaps, can be called the main outsider of the tournament, but because the team took only 5 rounds per attack is not the most unpredictable thing. After the transition, the Young Ninjas lost only 6 rounds to their opponents and ended the battle 16-11 in their favor. The Brazilians still have a chance to enter the Play-In, but for this they will have to defeat NAVI Junior, and it will be extremely difficult for them to achieve such a result. In addition, Astralis Talent will have to be defeated against Fnatic Rising for the Brazilians to enter the Play-In, and the latter have already shown what they are capable of more than once.
VP.Prodigy and BIG Academy took part in the third fight. The teams fought on the Mirage map and the fight was very interesting and intriguing. The CIS players started on the defensive side and made a good start. 10 rounds in the first half went to them, but after the transition, something went wrong with them. In the attack, it was many times more difficult for them to realize their ambitions, which led to the fact that VP.Prodigy managed to take only 4 rounds after the transition. For this reason, BIG Academy won 16-14. With their victory, the Germans ensured a trip to Kiev for the LAN-finals, where they will take part directly in the play-off stage matches. VP.Prodigy, in turn, will have to compete with Astralis Talent and FURIA Academy for the right to enter the final stage.
In the fourth battle, Astralis Talent and mouz NXT fought. The teams continued the trend of picking new maps and played on Nuke, which was the least frequent appearance at the event. Instead of MistR, Gnøffe played and you don't need to be a great analyst in order to understand how much it can ruin the game for the Danes in this case. Despite this, Astralis Talent played very well and managed to impose a fight on their opponents. They started out for defense and took 9 rounds. After the transition, the realization of their ambitions could not find their place in this match to the proper extent, and therefore the team took only 4 rounds and was defeated in the match with a score of 13-16. Mouz NXT naturally took the lead in the group table and will go to the playoffs in the capital of Ukraine, but Astralis Talent will have to fight VP.Prodigy and FURIA Academy for the last two places in the Play-In stage.
