Passion UA eliminate M80 and advance to Stage 3 of the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025
Passion UA continue their sensational run at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 — the Ukrainian team defeated M80 2:1 in a tense series to secure a spot in the third stage of the tournament. Despite dropping the opening map Mirage, the team turned the match around on their own picks, confidently closing out Inferno and Train to seal the victory.
Mirage (13:11 M80)
The opening map, Mirage, was M80’s pick. The first half was evenly matched, as both teams exchanged rounds and maintained a tight scoreline. In the second half, M80 managed to string together four rounds to take a 10:6 lead. Passion UA responded with a five-round streak of their own, reaching 11 rounds and putting real pressure on their opponents. Still, M80 held on and narrowly closed out the map 13:11.
Inferno (13:5 Passion UA)
On their own map pick, Passion UA looked far more comfortable. Starting on the T side, they controlled all key rounds and took the first half convincingly. M80 failed to mount a comeback after switching to the attack, winning only a single round. Passion UA confidently secured Inferno 13:5, tying the series 1-1.
Train (13:7 Passion UA)
The decider on Train was fully under the control of the Ukrainian squad. Although M80 managed to keep the first-half score close at 7:5, Passion UA dominated after switching to the T side. M80 won the initial two rounds, but a six-round streak from Passion UA sealed the map 13:7 and the overall victory.
Match MVP
The MVP of the match was Grim, who delivered 93.3 ADR, a +3.63% Swing, and a 1.40 rating. His performance was one of the key factors that helped the team advance to Stage 3.
M80 finish their tournament run in 9th–11th place in Stage 2, earning $10,000 in prize money. Passion UA, despite entering the stage as underdogs, move on to Stage 3 with a 3-2 record. StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 Stage 2 takes place from November 29 to December 2, with only 8 of the 16 teams advancing to the next stage.
