The Ukrainian team B8 shocked fans at the start of PGL Masters Bucharest 2025, defeating Astralis with a score of 2:0 (16:12 Mirage, 13:4 Ancient). The squad showed confident play on both maps, with alex666 emerging as the true hero of the match with a 1.61 rating. Thanks to this victory, B8 begin the tournament with a 1-0 record, while the Danish favorites unexpectedly fall to the 0-1 bracket.

Mirage (12:16 B8)

The match began on B8’s pick, Mirage. Astralis started with early dominance, leading 5:1, but things shifted in the 7th round as B8 took control and closed the first half with a 6:6 tie. In the second half, the Ukrainian team extended their winning streak, taking the lead 10:6. B8 reached map point, but Astralis managed to push the game into overtime. However, in the extra rounds, B8 gave the Danes no chance and sealed the deal 16:12.

Ancient (4:13 B8)

On Ancient, Astralis initially looked somewhat competitive, but B8 ended the first half with a solid 8:4 advantage. In the second half, the Ukrainian squad’s attack was unstoppable — Astralis failed to win a single round. B8 maintained full control and closed the map 13:4, completing a dominant 2:0 victory.

Match MVP

The standout player of the series was alex666, who delivered an incredible 113.1 ADR, +4.47% Swing, and a 1.61 rating. He’s clearly in top form — if he maintains this level, B8 have every chance to fight deep into the playoffs.

B8 pulled off a major upset by defeating Astralis, starting the tournament 1-0. The Danes, considered favorites in this matchup, now drop to the 0-1 pool.

PGL Masters Bucharest 2025 runs from October 26 to November 1 with a $625,000 prize pool, where the winner will take home $200,000 for the team and another $200,000 for the organization.
