FURIA advance to the ESL Pro League S22 playoffs after defeating Aurora 2:1

The Brazilian team FURIA secured their spot in the ESL Pro League Season 22 playoffs after a hard-fought series against Aurora. Following a dominant victory on Inferno (13:3), a loss on Mirage (9:13), and a dramatic decider on Overpass (16:12), it was FURIA who ultimately emerged victorious. The standout performer of the match was YEKINDAR, whose remarkable consistency earned him the MVP title of the series.

Inferno (13:3 FURIA)

The match began on Inferno, chosen by Aurora. On their own map pick, the Turkish side failed to put up much of a fight. They fell behind 10:2 in the first half, and after switching sides, FURIA quickly closed out the map 13:3. A key factor in this dominant performance was yuurih, who finished with a KD of 15/5, a 2.01 rating, and was instrumental in securing FURIA’s victory on the opponent’s pick.

Mirage (9:13 Aurora)

On FURIA’s map pick, Aurora managed to bounce back. In the first half of Mirage, the Turkish squad dictated the pace of the game, stringing together eight consecutive round wins to take a commanding lead. Switching to the T side, Aurora reached map point at 12:5, and although FURIA attempted a comeback, it wasn’t enough — Aurora closed out the map 13:9 to push the series to the decider on Overpass.

Overpass (16:12 FURIA)

The final map, Overpass, turned into a real battle. FURIA took a slight lead in the first half at 8:4, but Aurora managed to regain momentum and tie the score 9–9 in the second half. Despite this, FURIA pushed ahead to match point at 12:10, before Aurora forced the game into overtime. In the extra rounds, FURIA maintained full control and sealed the victory 16:12.

Match MVP

The best player of the series was YEKINDAR, who played a crucial role in FURIA’s advancement to the playoffs. His overall stats across three maps were: ADR – 104.9, Swing +3.08%, and a rating of 1.37.

After the victory, FURIA posted an emotional message on X celebrating their advance to the playoffs:

With this win, FURIA move on to the playoffs with a 3-1 record, while Aurora drop to the 2-2 pool, where they must win their next match to qualify — otherwise, their ESL Pro League run will come to an end.
