FURIA Sign Kazakh AWPer molodoy Ahead of Austin Major

FURIA have made a surprising roster move by signing Danil "molodoy" Golubenko from AMKAL, shortly after benching Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes earlier on Friday. The transfer comes just ahead of the Austin Major roster lock, confirming that molodoy will represent the Brazilian organization at the upcoming American event.

🧠 A Bold Move With Uncertain Roles

The 20-year-old Kazakh player, known for his sharp AWPing skills, joins FURIA in a move that raises questions about the team’s future structure — particularly with Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, a legendary AWPer himself, still active on the roster.

Given molodoy's strong stats — he averaged an impressive 1.26 rating with the AWP in 2025 — it's likely he will take over main AWP duties. This could signal a role change for FalleN, who may follow in the footsteps of players like Casper "cadiaN" Møller by transitioning into a rifling in-game leader.

🚀 A Rising Star From AMKAL

molodoy made his mark in early 2025 with AMKAL, helping the squad:

  • Qualify for the PGL Astana 2025 Europe Closed Qualifier
  • Reach the playoffs of CCT Season 2 Europe Series 16

Despite his growing reputation, molodoy has only played 148 HLTV-recorded maps in his career. Joining FURIA marks his first foray into tier-one Counter-Strike and introduces the challenge of adapting to English communication within an international roster.

Debut on Home Soil

The revamped FURIA lineup will debut at PGL Astana, a special occasion for molodoy as the event is set in his home country, Kazakhstan, and begins on May 10.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 FURIA’s Current Roster:

  • 🇧🇷 Yuri "yuurih" Santos
  • 🇧🇷 Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato
  • 🇧🇷 Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo
  • 🇧🇷 Felipe "skullz" Medeiros
  • 🇰🇿 Danil "molodoy" Golubenko
  • 🧠 Coach: 🇧🇷 Sid "sidde" Macedo

With a promising young AWPer and a legendary veteran possibly shifting roles, all eyes will be on FURIA at PGL Astana to see if this gamble pays off.
