FURIA Esports player Marcelo chelo Cespedes shared his thoughts on his team’s victory over Team Spirit in the opening Elimination Stage match at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. His comments were made during a stream by Alexandre Gaules Borba.

chelo's Thoughts on the Match

"The whole team was shocked. We received a lot of negativity. This lack of respect and arrogance, which we cannot afford, proved that arrogance doesn’t win games," said Cespedes.

The Backstory

Before the match, Team Spirit player Daniil donk Kryshkovets and coach Sergey hally Shavaev predicted in their Pick’Em Challenge that FURIA would finish the tournament with a 0-3 record. However, the Brazilian team defied expectations, delivering a confident victory over Team Spirit with a score of 13-6.

Spirit vs FURIA Map Veto Process

The map veto for the match unfolded as follows:

  1. FURIA removed Ancient.
  2. FURIA removed Anubis.
  3. Spirit removed Inferno.
  4. Spirit removed Vertigo.
  5. Spirit removed Mirage.
  6. FURIA removed Nuke.
  7. The remaining map was Dust2.

On Dust2, the Brazilians showcased their strength, demonstrating coordinated and confident gameplay to secure the win.
