G2 Esports wins IEM Katowice 2023

The G2 Esports team became the winner of IEM Katowice 2023. In the grand final of the championship, Swani's wards turned out to be stronger than Heroic with a score of 3:1 (Nuke - 16:12; Mirage - 16:13; Inferno - 11:16; Ancient - 16:7). Thanks to this achievement, the Samurai earned a prize of $400,000 and a ticket to IEM Cologne 2023. In turn, the Danish team Heroic received $180,000 for the second place.

The championship for the European team began with an everyday series of victories over BIG (2:0), FaZe Clan (2:0) and NAVI (2:0) in the group stage. Taking the first line in group A, "samurai" secured a direct hit in the semi-finals of the competition and received an extra day to prepare for the decisive fights.

Once in the playoffs, G2 Esports continued their incredible adventure, confidently defeating Team Liquid (2:0) in the semi-finals. In the decisive match of the championship, Swani's wards declassed Heroic (3:1), thanks to which they became the winners of IEM Katowice 2023 and earned a solid $400,000.

It is noteworthy that G2 Esports not only remained undefeated in this tournament - the team lost only one map, becoming the absolute strongest among all other participants. Given the strong series, NiKo and company deservedly lifted the cup over their heads, interrupting the unfortunate streak from the lost finals in Katowice.

IEM Katowice 2023 was held from 1 to 12 February in Katowice at the Spodek Arena. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and Oceania fought for a total prize pool of $1,000,000, as well as a ticket to IEM Cologne 2023 for the winner.
