Team Spirit loses to FURIA and crashes from IEM Cologne 2022
Team Spirit lost to FURIA with a score of 1:2 and left IEM Cologne 2022. At the end of the championship, the Russian team took 9th-12th place and earned $16,000. In turn, the Brazilian team made it to the finals of the lower bracket of group B, where they will meet with Team Liquid for the right to reach the playoffs of the championship.
The meeting started on the Nuke map, which became the choice of the Russian team. At the same time, the Brazilians decided to play ahead of the game, starting the game in attack. As a result, Team Spirit played an exemplary half on defense, managing to close the side with a score of 12:3. Despite all attempts by FURIA to win back after the switchover, the Russian team managed to keep the lead and took the lead in the series — 16:12.
Next, the teams moved to the Mirage map, which turned out to be the choice of FURIA. At the same time, the first half ended with a score of 9:6 in favor of Team Spirit, which, after switching sides, began to increase its advantage. However, with the score at 7:13, the Brazilian team mustered their will to make a powerful comeback and even the score in the series — 16:14.
Everything was decided on the Overpass map, the first half of which ended with a double advantage in favor of the Brazilian team. Well, after the side switch, Team Spirit failed to return to the game, thus leaving IEM Cologne 2022 and letting FURIA into the final of the lower bracket of group B — 16:10.
Note that a little earlier, Team Liquid turned out to be stronger than Cloud9 with a score of 2:0.
IEM Cologne 2022 takes place from 5 to 17 July in Germany at the Hyatt Regency Cologne and LANXESS arena venues. As part of the championship, 24 teams from Europe, the CIS, Oceania, China, North and South America are fighting for a prize pool of $1,000,000, as well as rating points in the BLAST Premier table.
